Avery's POV

When she had gotten to the palace, she was in complete awe of the it and its grounds. It was more extravaganza in person. Huge and beautiful with impeccably kept grounds and a immaculate, historical interior but she couldn't say the same about drive up here with Linda and Cassandra in one of the royal Roll-royce that they had sent to pick them up, because they were followed by news vans and cameramen that came out of nowhere, and to make matter worse, there were even more of them waiting outside the gates of the palace.

She and the other two girls had to hide their faces when they were driving through the sea of them because their camera flashes were so bright, almost blinding to a point. She knew that there was definitely not going to be any respect of privacy or space as soon as they drove through the gates and she dreaded that.

Lying in bed in the luxurious bedroom, Avery thought back to the opening ceremony, she had never felt nervousness like this before, she actually thought that she was going to black out from feeling that way but thankfully she didn't

Lying in bed in the luxurious bedroom, Avery thought back to the opening ceremony, she had never felt nervousness like this before, she actually thought that she was going to black out from feeling that way but thankfully she didn't. There were so many people there that held higher statuses in the land like the other royals and the politicians, and all their eyes were on her and the other girls but there was one that was really piercing that it made her look up, and there he was.

Standing beside his father in one of his formal, royal attires, Prince Alexander. He looked very handsome. Avery could distinctively recall when their eyes met from across the room, she couldn't explain the feeling but it was a good feeling.

"Stop it Avery." She scolded herself in annoyance and plumped up the pillows that she lay her head on and tried to fall asleep, but that itself proven to be much difficult than she expected.

Releasing a exasperated sigh, she leaned turned over to the bedside tables and switched on the lamps there, letting their warm lights illuminate the gorgeous bedroom that she was given to stay in. She did not expect this at all. It was like a hotel room, luxurious, big and smelled lovely. The other eligibles were also given a room each on the same floor. There were three floors in the palace and their rooms were on the middle level while the top floor which was also known as the Solar was for the Royal family.

Grabbing her phone from one of the tables, Avery turned it on to see that it was only going up to eleven, so she decided to call her mother and tell her of her current situation. Tapping her mom's phone number, she sat in the big bed and waited for her to pick up.

"Avery." Her mother answered groggily on the fourth ring.

"Mom, sorry I'm not disturbing you am I?" Avery asked sincerely, hearing the exhaustion in her mom's voice.

"No, no. I have a day-off tomorrow."

"Oh, okay."

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, nothing is wrong. I just...there's something that I need to tell you and I should have told you a long time ago-"

"Avery, are you pregnant?" Her mother immediately asked in dread and fear.

"What?! No! No, no, no." Avery's eyes widened at this and she had to remind herself that she was in the palace, and that she must not talk to loudly.

Her mother released a heavy sigh of relief. "Oh thank goodness, you are still way to young to be a mother."

"I know mom and that's not it."

"Okay, than what is it?" Her mother drawled out in question.

"Did you see anything on the news about the King and Queen hosting a contest for Prince Alexander to choose a bride?" Avery asked.

"Yes, I've heard about it." Her mother answered. "But what does this have to do with our conversation?"

"Umm...well, I have been chosen to take part in it. I'm one of the contestants, mom."

"What?"

"They choose me and two other girls from town and we're in the palace now. We just had the official opening ceremony a few hours ago."

"Why didn't you tell me this, earlier on Avery?" Her mother chastised, from shocked at the news.

"I'm sorry mom, I just thought that they wouldn't pick me. My answer sheet was straight forward and honestly boring, I don't know why they even chose me."

"So you are going to be what?...completing for Prince Alexander's love?"

Avery closed her eyes and sighed. "...Yes."

"You are still way to young for marriage. I want you to enjoy your young life before settling down. Marriage takes a lot of commitment." Her mother told her.

"I know mom, but what can I do now? I've already been chosen."

She heard her mom release a deep breath on the other end. "Well, we can't do much now...just be yourself and take care, I trust you know what to do. You're going to be in the limelight now and there won't be any privacy from the media. The whole world is watching, so just take care, okay?"

"I will mom, I'll let you get back to bed now. I love you." Avery promised.

"I love you too."

Once Avery ended the call, she felt much better after taking to her mother and eventually managed to fall asleep.
