Noah

He knew she was starting to push him away. could feel it.
But he didn't want to admit it. How would you feel, if your whole world didn't want anymore?
As the goodnight texts turned into texting once or twice a week, Noah knew things were coming to an end. His mind said to let go. But his heart wouldn't listen. And in the end, he was the one who got hurt. The fight between believing your heart or your mind is the hardest fight you will ever face in your life.
She was snow, craving warmth. And he was the warmth craving snow. She lingered with him, her fingers on his soul, and she helped herself to the warmth that he provided. She was so close, yet so far away from him, and the farther she got away from him, the less he felt. He was becoming numb.
He marveled at the snowflakes in her hair and on her skin as they walked, and he wondered how anyone could prefer falling leaves over snowflakes.
When the time came, he listened to her cold words.
"Promise me you'll always remember me," Dixie had said.
"Don't make me promise." He said as he looked up at her through snow-covered eyelashes. "People only ask you to remember them if they're planning to leave. You're leaving. Please don't ask me to remember it."
And despite everything, Noah couldn't look away, as the wind from the cold brushed her soft black hair.
He was still in love with her, but she didn't want him anymore.
They were so close to each other, they couldn't see the harm. He melted her, and she turned him cold.
Opposites attract.
But they're not supposed to. And this relationship was just another casualty of love that wasn't meant to be. Or maybe, they were meant to be, but not at the moment.
But that's for another time.
