Dixie

April

~~~
April. Her birthday month, and her favorite weather of all. It's cold, but it has enough spring warmth that it's not freezing.
Today was her birthday, and she intended to try to forget all about Noah for the day.
She ends up at some party her friend drags her to; where beer and booze are served freely and boys are just a little too ancy to get a girl wasted.
Loud music pumps through the speakers as Dixie takes a big drink from her red plastic cup filled with beer. She's lost track of how many care. she's had, but at this point, she doesn't
All she cares about, is that it's not working.
Noah still haunts her thoughts, still haunts every single part of her, he's in her bones, he's in her mind, he's in her bones.
She tries to stand up, wobbling a bit when someone catches her.
Dixie turns to thank the person and they smile at her. "It's totally okay, you look like you need some help. Can I drive you anywhere?"
Dixie hesitates. Usually, she doesn't take rides from strangers. But right now there's only one place in her mind.
As they drive, her thoughts run wild, intensified by the booze she drank.
One they get there, she thanks the stranger once again.
"Good luck." They say, as they drive off.
I'm going to need it, she thought, why am I even here? Why did I tell him to drive me here?
Dixie stumbles towards the door to the little apartment. She knocks on the door.
He opens the door and sees her standing there and she runs into his arms before she can say anything.
She wraps her arms around him and he wraps his arms around her.
"Dix...What's wrong?" He whispers, holding her tightly in his arms. She breathes in his scent and it makes it harder to bear.
"You don't get it." She slurred. "I haven't stopped loving you or wanting you since the first second I saw you. Even now, a few months after I screwed up, I am still hopelessly in love with you. And I'll never stop loving you." A tear slowly ran down her face as he kept holding her and the memories came back to her.
He could probably tell that she was drunk. But at this point, she didn't care. All she wanted was to be in his arms again.
He held her tight until she calmed down a bit.
"I love you." She whispered towards him.
