Unlicensed

"Who owns the ship? Does anyone know?" Kiki leaned back in her chair, surveying the room. "Right, no takers. I guess we have to make contact then."

Bucky blinked. That was more direct than he thought she would ever be. There was a way to connect with the ship if they wanted to, but it would require the ship to accept the contact. It was quite risky because of the dangerous weapons system, but there was no other way of getting it down, as it was unlicensed.

The newest tech scientist was called Mary Haylem. She had graduated the academy (not the one on the island) with the highest honours, being the smartest and best in all her classes.

"Hayl!" Bucky called and walked over. She blinked in recognition, acknowledging Bucky's greeting.

"What have you idiots called me here for this time?" She sighed and placed her glasses on the table in the middle. "Where's Sam, anyway?"

"He's...not here. We need your help rigging up the communication with the ship. It's a mission this time, Hayl. We just have to get them to license or come down, and we're done." Bucky pleaded. Him and Hayl knew each other previously, they had an obviously problematic history. Kiki wondered what mischief they had got up to at her academy.

"Fine. I'll do it. But you still owe me from last time so now you owe me double." She took out some wires and a briefcase and started connecting it to the screen on the wall.

Another agent ran in holding a file.

"Moonface, this is for you." He said holding it out. He obviously didn't know who Moonface was as he was offering it out to the entire room.

"Thanks." She took it and opened it, a little confused since they had all the information already in the file Fury had given them. She opened it and gasped.

"What is it?" Bucky asked. "What does it say?"

"They found where the ship was launched from. It was on earth, at an abandoned base." She couldn't believe it. What had they done to her?

"And...?"

Kiki looked up at him.

"There is obviously something else. No one had that sort of reaction to an empty base."

"My sister is there. My sister was in that base when she Blipped back." Kiki paced around. "Can you get that communication to work? I need to talk to her. She must be so scared."

"All done. Don't touch anything, Bucky." Hayl said in a warning tone. He held his hands up and she left.

"Hello, unidentified, come in, unidentified." Kiki said. "Come in, unidentified. We need proof of license."

"I'm afraid we can't do that. We have no license." Came a crackling voice through the radio. It had a slight German accent and seemed familiar to Kiki.

"Please remove your ship from orbit, and disarm your weapons. I repeat-"

"Yes, we heard you the first time. No, we will not. You will have to forcefully remove us." The voice interrupted. "Goodbye, Agent Moonface."

The line spluttered and there were sparks around the wires.

"What the hell was that? How did he know your name?" Bucky raged. It wasn't that he had a crush (shut up Sam) it was just that he might actually be her friend? She hadn't actually killed Steve, and that was his only real reason for disliking her.

"I knew him when I was a child."
