Gabriel's dead

It was Nova who came up with the idea.

"So, you're telling me Sol had healing powers." Kiki nodded. "And she had a hurt brain." Kiki nodded again. "So why doesn't she just heal herself?" It seemed so simple.

So here they were. Attempting to use Sol's powers on Sol herself.

It was going pretty well. Kiki had taught her how to call on it. Where Kiki's was black smoke, Sol had golden strings sewing together wounds.

"Brains are more complicated than scratches, Kiki." Hayl said aside to her.

"I know, but we have to try. I need my sister back." Kiki walked back to Sol's side, an encouraging smile on her face. Hayl just shrugged and continued preparing for Sol.

They couldn't see it happening, but they could see a change on Sol's face as she recognised her sister again.

"Al! I knew you'd bring me back!" She said happily.

Nova draped an arm over Kiki's shoulder. "So she's back! Kiki, we need to talk." Kiki nodded, confused, but Nova stuck her thumb towards the door. "Outside."

Loki was also standing outside waiting for them.

"We offer our humblest apologies for disturbing your moment, however we have found something and Nova, urm, persuaded me that you and your colleagues should be informed." He said after a pointed look from Nova.

"What is it? And why did you need to tell me separately?" Kiki asked.

"Gabriel got away. He's currently travelling all the high society parties and we thought you could go to one." Nova explained. She knew Kiki well, even after such a short time, and Kiki would want to go after him. "We were planning on telling the others after you left, to give you the best chance."

Kiki processed this information and made a split second decision.

"There's one more person who needs to know. You guys stay with Sola, while I go break the news."

"What?!" That was Bucky's first reaction.

"We have to go after him!" That was his second.

"I know, Barnes. Nova and Loki are holding the new to give us a chance to take him out, so I booked a plane to Alaska where the next one he'll be at is." She was already moving.

"What about clothes? We have to fit in." He kept pace with her easily, him being a supersoldier and all.

"All on the plane, Barnes."

They stepped of the private jet into the cool air of the grand house. There was still a dusting of snow on the ground, even though it was winter, and Kiki shivered in her sleeveless dress.

"You should have brought a jacket, Ki, I'm not going to give you mine." Bucky whispered.

"Shut up, Barnes. You're just in awe of how great I look even though I'm about to kill someone's." She said smugly.

She was right though, she looked amazing in that dress. It accented her curves, revealing but not immodest.

Keep focused on the task, Bucky. And shut up, Sam. Why was he still in his head?

Kiki breathed out slowly, the moisture clouding up in the freezing air. Despite what he said, Bucky found himself placing his arm over her shoulder to keep her as warm as possible. What was wrong with him?

It was just that she was his friend.

A very good friend, that's all.

They walked up the grand steps to the big doors held open by two smartly dressed, vacant butlers. Loki had put them on the list under 'Daniel' and 'Eve'.

With Kiki – his very good friend – on his arm, Bucky stepped inside the beautiful ballroom and was transported into another world.
