Stealing their screams

"I thought you said this place was abandoned!" Kiki yelled, shooting wildly at anything moving.

"Fury said that, not me!" Bucky yelled back. "Behind you!"

You're probably wondering how they got into this situation. Let's go back a few hours.

"Who is he?" Bucky said, confused.

"My parents used to work a little with his dad. They never particularly liked him, but is was necessary for the work they needed. Whenever he came over, he would bring his son, Gabriel. Gabriel was only older than me by a year, but he acted like it was ten. I think that was his dad's fault. He always wanted him to be bigger, better. He was insufferable." Kiki rolled her eyes, remembering Gabriel's little antics.

"What is his full name?" Bucky stood up and walked over to her. Kiki felt a little intimidated.

"Gabriel Whitehall. His father was Daniel Whitehall. Why do you want to know?"

Bucky ran a hand through his hair and breathed out slowly.

"Hydra's back."

Up on the ship, Gabriel Whitehall laughed as he short circuited their rudimentary communication device. He wondered how long it would take for them to realise it was him. He knew that Alkina, that annoying little brat, had joined Shield. She seemed smart enough, more so than her sister, although her sister had more memories of him than she did. That made her mind easier to play with.

It was difficult, however, to remove the memories of Alkina. Solana always resisted what he said when she remembered Alkina, so, although it was a challenge, they had gone. They were replaced with memories of hatred for Shield. Only Solana knew what had happened to her parents, and she could only guess who had done it, but considering they had been friends, it couldn't have been Daniel, Gabriel's father! No! It must have been Shield.

Gabriel hated Shield, even more than the average Hydra member. They had murdered his father, leaving him orphaned and alone. He had no one- NO ONE! At least those awful sisters had their extended family to take them in.

"What was that about, Gabriel? Is everything alright?" Solana walked in and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I heard a voice. It sounded familiar."

"It was nothing, just some communication with Earth." He waved over the guards in the corner of the room. "They will probably go to the base we found you. Send them a little surprise." He smiled, imagining the death of Alkina.

And we're back. As you can probably tell, the base was not abandoned and they did the highly predictable move and GUESS WHAT. The enemy predicted it.

Bucky and Kiki were battling the Hydra agents, and winning. Mostly.

No one was really gaining any ground. They moved forward and backwards, but the Hydra agents had guns, and they didn't.

Out of the corner of her eye, Kiki could see a sniper setting up at the end of the corridor. He was aiming, and aiming, and aiming at...

No.

No no no no no. No.

The sniper fired and Kiki raised her hand, as if that could stop the bullet.

But it could.

Her eyes glowed white as it turned into black tendrils, coiling through the air and wrapping around the snipers neck. As it disintegrated into the air he fell to the ground, black bruises blossoming on his neck.

"What the hell was that?" Bucky looked at her. Everyone had stopped, staring at the dead sniper.

"It's a family thing." She shrugged and black smoke filled the room, curling around all the Hydra soldiers and stealing their screams, leaving the Shield agents alive.

"Come on. We've gotta get onto that ship." She walked of, navigating the maze of dead bodies in front of them. Several agents started pulling them into piles of death, covered with black blood. That was the cost of the power.
