I wake up and look at the time. It's just passed 8am and all I can think about is, I hate my period.
My stomach is cramping like crazy before another thought can cross my mind my bedroom door slowly opens.
"Am I allowed to come in?" Simon asks me, waiting behind the door.
I sigh and nod as I hide Elijah's hoodie under my pillow, "Sure you can, Simon." I tell him and he walks in and closes the door behind him.
He sits on my bed but before he could get a word in I decide to say something.
"Are you finally going to tell me what you didn't want to tell me last night when I asked you like a thousand times?" I ask him.
He lets out a nervous laugh, "Of course, that's what I wanted to talk to you about before I head into work. I just didn't want to do it in front of Elijah and everyone." He tells me.
I frown and ask him, "And why not?"
"I didn't want to make it awkward." He tells me.
"Didn't want to make what awkward, Simon?" I ask him.
"Well, we have this thing on Saturday that we all have to attend." He tells me.
"What thing?" I ask him.
"And why to we have to attend it?" I ask him again.
"It's this annual work dinner function all the higher ups have to attend in the state." He tells me.
"Why do I have to go again?" I ask him.
"I want you as a safety net there for Elijah." He says and sighs.
I frown, "Why me? For Elijah?" I ask him.
"He doesn't have a date and I don't want Melanie to have no one to talk to. So, it's two birds with one stone." He tells me.
"I would think that you would find another girl to go with Elijah." I tell him.
"As much as I dislike the idea of you and Elijah on a date together. I don't want some strange girl I don't know to go with him. Plus, I want Melanie to be comfortable. She's already nervous as is." He says to me.
"You really dislike it that much?" I ask him seriously.
"I can't even begin to explain to you how much I hate the idea, but that's beside the point. I just want to know if you're willing to go?" He asks me.
"Sure, why not? I have nothing else to do." I tell him.
"Okay, well then, I'll fill you in on the details later. I gotta go to work now. I already told Elijah I was on my way." He tells me.
"Then go to work!" I exclaim, chasing him away.
"I don't want to get in trouble for making you late." I add.
He sighs and stands up, "I won't get in trouble." He tells me.
"And how do you know that?" I ask him as he makes his way to the door.
"Because you're the reason I'm late." He says as he opens the door to exit my room.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask him confused.
"Bye, Alana!" He exclaims as he closes the door and leaves.
Simon has probably figured out that we're attracted to each other but still wants to keep us apart.
Or he assumes that we're attracted to each other.
Now we have to go to this thing together and just be platonic.
