"Whoa back up. Luke" he turned to look at me "What exactly happened?" I questioned, he could not just dump that on us and not have questioned asked.
"Mr Jeffery had precise drawings of circuits that he said he'd been doing over the summer but there was one problem, there was a missing calculation in the stabiliser I thought it was theoretical so i wrote out the equation to solve it." he explained
"Do you think you can draw it?" Sarah Jane asked, Luke nodded and did so on a piece of paper that was on one of the tables.
"It wasn't working till i went and gave him the answers." he looked down trodden at what he'd been duped into doing.
"Oh, Luke." I breathed in sympathy for him
"The power cut was a test run."
"But our candles went out ad thats not electric" Maria took the drawing as i leaned on the desk with my arms folded.
"When the capacitors are charged up they act as transducers, converting heat and light into electrical energy. That's how the loop works, it's not connected physically."
"But what has that got to do with the underground railways?" Maria asked
"They system must generate heat. The underground railways must act as a cooling system!" Sarah Jane thought out loud
"Oh glad we sorted that out." Clyde commented
"People getting ill, food going off that's the effect of living or working next to one of the capacitors." I voiced biting my thumb nail
"Indeed. Even on standby the transducers would cause cellular decay in organic matter."
"With this system they could drain every last drop of energy." i breathed
"Our school is the last in the link in the chain" Luke continued
"But it needs a whole chain altogether, to do that.?" Maria questioned in general.
"Yeah" Luke confirmed
"We bomb the school?" Clyde asked excited bad timing but i couldn't help but smile a little, trust him to have a crazy ass thought like that.
"If we could get in there could you destroy the entire system safely?" Sarah Jane asked
"I think so if we reset the system, shut it down for a second. I need a cutting tool" Luke answered after thinking about it.
"What about this" she brought out her sonic lipstick.
"Yeah and how do we plan on getting past the Slitheen?" i asked
"We bomb them!" Clyde tried again with the idea from hell. I was about to dismiss the idea again when Mr Smith interrupted us.
"Sarah Jane, i've just picked up this report on a American New Channel" he brought up the picture. Moved down for a closer look.
"Breaking news, There is a massive loss of power on the west coast of north America, Los Angeles has gone dark." the news reporter stated. Here we go. I tied my hair up into a pony tail tightened it.
"It's starting" Sarah Jane breathed
"And i help start it. They day i was born i saved the world and now i've helped destroy it." i put my hand on Luke's shoulder comfortingly.
"Mr Smith give me everything you have on the inhabitants of..." Sarah Jane tried to pronounce it but struggled
"Raxacoricofallapatorius" Luke and I filled in, it seemed as if we were the only ones who could only read the name of the planet.
"You're making that up" Clyde commented
"Any weaknesses, anything we can used to fight them" Sarah Jane added
"Accessing." Mr Smith searched through his database, oh how I wish I had a little help, name of the aliens sounded familiar but trust me to forget at time like this.
"Anyone could have made that mistake" Maria said
"No only he could." Clyde butted in being completely unhelpful. I slapped his arm glaring at him, he had the worst timing ever. I know this was all knew to him but he really did need to learn to read the room.
"Clyde, don't be mean. Maria's right, you thought it was theoretical, nothing more." I assured my new friend, while glaring at my brother.
"Well duh, Let's have a High School Musical moment. A group hug will sort everything out." he put his arms around me and Luke.
"Your right as if a teacher could have worked out that diagram." Luke looked down
"And the power loss is spreading westwards." we all looked back to Mr Smith. "China, is without power and it may only be a matter of time before the effect spreads here...oh boy" they began to lose power then nothing.
"I have lost the signal" Mr Smith informed us
"Anything on the Slitheen yet?" Sarah Jane asked
"Accessing"
"Come on" i groaned and went to sit down. We waited as more cities were reported to have went dark, due to the Siltheen. "Mr Smith does like to take his time" I huffed scowling.
" Raxacoricofallapatorians, calcum based life forms" i stood up
"Give us the weaknesses!" Maria stressed
"Weaknesses. They are naturally hardy race. However their bodies are natural hypersensitive to..." he cut out, the super know it all computer cut out on us just as he was getting somewhere finally.
"No!" i whined, I down in a huff and the other joined me.
"We can't stop them without the sonic lipstick.
"It's real, the end of the world. Thanks to him." Clyde grumbled which only furthered my irritation.
"Shut up Clyde" i snapped
"No Mr Smith, No sonic lipstick, no plan B. But we are the only people in the world who can stop this. And we will. Time to go back to school!" Sarah Jane got up and grabbed her coat.
"Now that's more like it!" i chimed and followed
