I was walking down to the centre with Luke and Maria. We were going shopping, well Maria and I were. Luke was tagging along. Both of us wanted to get a new bag and I also wanted to pick up a couple of new books."At breakfast time, I'm so hungry, I could murder a bowl of cornflakes. Does that make me a cereal killer?" He tried to joke. We stopped and stared at him.
"You're not laughing." his shoulder sagged in defeat. He really had been trying to learn all the was of being a human.
"It wasn't very funny." Maria laughed slightly as we continued on.
"I've been studying jokes, their structure and history and that's what you do. You swap words around, so that was a joke." he explained.
"Well I don't think it'll get you on the telly, but yeah. I guess." I smile and link my arm with his. He gave me a small grateful smile.
"What makes a joke funny? I read that Timing's important. How exactly?" Luke questions, and this is where he would lose me, with an interrogation on how to be human with specifics.
"I don't know it's complicated ." Maria replies not really wanting to have another conversation similar to about the fifty we've already had on various subjects.
"Is the content important?" Maria sighs
"Why does everything with you lead to 500 question. Come on, I want to get a new bag." Maria pulled him along.
"You've got lot's of bags" Luke replies making me break out into a smile, this is one thing he would never understand.
"You can never have too many bags." Maria and I stated in unison and then high fived each other.
"Another thing I don't understand." I start laughing
2Don't worry you're not meant to." I let go and walk up to Maria. A man walked past us and we looked back. Luke had stopped in front of a poster and the man stopped beside him.
"What do you reckon solider! Do you think you're man enough to have a go?" The guy asked my friend.
"I have to go shopping" he replied
"Well that's kind of answered my question." I jog up to them, something about this interaction didn't feel right.
"Come on Luke." I encouraged him to leave and carry on with us. As we were about to the guy stopped us and dug into his jacket. I let go of our friend.
"Here, vouchers, in case you change your mind." he hands us a voucher each.
"Thank you" Luke grins
"Thanks, let's go." I take his arm again and lead him away. Maria and I looked through several shops before She bought a bag and I bought a bag pack and a couple of books. Finishing we went back to Luke's. Clyde started messing with mine and Maria's bags. Both us girls were laughing.
"Do you mind?" Sarah Jane asked and we stopped
"Sorry, Sarah Jane." She continued typing.
"Clyde was just bugging around with Maria and Katie's bag." He nudged me and i smiled a little at him trying to catch on with slang.
"I'm sorry?" She asked
"Mucking, I was mucking around. Or messing, you know messing around? You gotta listen to the words Luke. They're important in slang. You can't improvise." My brother sighs and sits down
"Sorry, Sarah Jane. We'll get out of your way." Maria says taking our bags back from my brother and handing mine back to me.
"No, wait. I've just been to see the mother of that boy who went missing, Lance. What do you know about him?" Sarah Jane wondered and we all glanced at each other.
