(Peter's P.O.V.)
"Beth?"
"Yes, Peter?"
"What would you do if... if I died?"
She sat up. It was morning now. I woke up while she was still asleep and started thinking. I knew she should go home, but at the same time I wanted to make the selfish choice and keep her here. But then one day out of the blue, I'd be dead. And now that I knew she loved me too, I couldn't do that to her.
"Why would you ask me that?" she asked.
"Just thinking," I said.
"Well, I don't know," she said. "I mean, I can barely imagine it. I mean, I probably wouldn't be able to move on."
"Oh, Beth," I said sitting up and putting my hands on her shoulder. "Promise me you would. Promise me you'd be able to move on, be happy, live your life."
She smiled at me sadly and said, "I can't."
"Please," I said.
She looked at me a while, then sighed and said, "I promise that I'll try. But getting over you would take a lot of work, and I'm lazy."
I laughed.
"But of course, I won't have to worry about that as long as we're both here," she said with a smile and pushed my bangs back.
I sighed and said, "Well, you never know, this island is quiet deadly."
"But you know it like the back of your hand," she said.
"Still."
She smiled and said, "You aren't going to die. Everything's going to be fine."
I smiled the realest smile I could and said, "I know," when in reality my heart was shattering.
Because I have to send her home.
