Later that day, Beth laughed as Cole ran, stamping his little feet in the dirt. Then Felix walked up and sat down. He looked heartbroken and depressed.
"Whoa there Felix!" Beth said when she noticed. "Have any more fun and people are gonna start complaining."
Pan had told him Beth was leaving. Nobody else knew, but he thought he might be falling for her himself. But of course, she was Pan's. So he couldn't do anything.
"You okay?" Beth asked Felix.
"Yeah, I-I'm okay," he said.
"Something's up," Beth said seriously, tensing up. "Felix, what aren't you telling me?"
"Nothing," he lied.
"Felix, I know something's going on and you're not telling me," she said.
He sighed and said, "I know."
Beth was dressed very nicely that day. A white dress and flats, her hair was curled and she wore a curly, silver tiara that dipped down in a V shape, with a very large pearl in the center, resting in the middle of her forehead.
"Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?" he asked. Beth was caught off guard.
"Oh--uh, n-no..?" she said awkwardly.
"Well I should've by now," Felix said smiling faintly at her."What's going on Felix?" she asked.
"Pan needs to talk to you," he said. "He's on the beach, not far from Mermaid Lagoon. Where we found you."
"Is that what you weren't telling me?" she asked him.
"Sort of," Felix replied. "Pan will tell you when you get there."
"Okay, I'll leave now then," she said standing up.
"Please don't," Felix said. His voice was thick, but he wasn't crying.
"Why?" she asked. "Felix, you're scaring me, what is going on?"
Felix stood up too. He was about a full foot taller than her. All he did was hug her.
"You're my best friend, you know that, right?" he asked.
"Of course I do," Beth replied hugging back.
They stood there for over a minute, hugging. Then Felix finally took a deep breath, and pulled away.
"You have to go now," he told her.
"Okay," she said.
Felix smoothed her hair and looked at her one last time and said "Goodbye, Beth."
Beth looked around, confused. "See ya," she replied with a smile.
He chuckled, then walked away, willing himself to only look ahead and not back, because if he saw her walking away, he knew he'd try to stop her.
When Beth got to the beach, Peter was waiting there with a large bag.
"Hey," she said, smiling as she walked up behind him.
"Hi," he said, not turning to look at her. She kissed his shoulder and walked around to hug him.
"Felix was acting really weird," she said. "What's going on?"
"Here," Peter said, giving her the bag. She cocked an eyebrow and opened it. Inside were her clothes, tiaras, and everything she'd collected during her time in Neverland.
"Peter?" she asked, confused.
"Oh, and you of course can't forget this," Peter said, handing her her stuffed bear.
