(Peter's P.O.V.)

I wasn't sure if she meant we were together or if she was just going to trust me, but either way I knew I couldn't screw this up. I've gotten my chance, and I'll probably only get one, and I hope I'll only need one.

"Come on," I said. "Let's get you in a better mood. Mermaid Lagoon isn't far."

She wiped her eyes, nodded and smiled at me.

We started walking again, and I asked, "So... what does this make us?"

She thought for a moment, then she took my hand and intertwined our fingers. I felt like I might be flying, but I could see my feet were on the ground. I once believed that flying was the most amazing thing you could feel, but now I know I was wrong all these years. Because this not only felt like flying, but I was also on the ground, with the most amazing girl I've ever met. I've probably only known her a little over a week, which made me laugh.

She smiled up at me and I knew this meant we were together. I think this was the happiest I'd ever felt.

"Is that it?" she asked, pointing ahead of us.

She could see the lagoon through the shrubs in front of us.

"Yeah, that is," I said. "Now, stay away from the water. I don't know what you've heard about mermaids, but their favorite hobby is drowning people."

"Lovely," she said sarcastically and I smiled. She smiled too and said, "I know enough about mermaids by the way. I learned about them when I was on the water."

"Then this just got a lot less dangerous," I said.

"Phooey," she said and stuck out her bottom lip and folded her arms. I laughed, quietly as to not alert the mermaids we were here. She was so cute.

"Has anybody ever told you how adorable you are?" I asked.

"Nope," she said, popping the P rather loudly.

"Well then everybody else is stupid," I replied and she giggled.

"Let's go," I said, then held a finger to my lips and whispered, "Shh."

I pulled back one of the shrubs and let Beth go first. Then I followed.

I saw the mermaids sitting on the rock in the middle of the lagoon. I looked over at Beth who stared and smiled, awestruck of the sight in front of her.

"Wow," she breathed. "I've caught glimpses of mermaid's in the water before, but that was nothing compared to this."

I smiled, still watching her. I've seen the mermaids a lot. I'm used to them, but the look in Beth's eyes is a look I'd never seen before I met her. It was breath-taking.

"Are you sure we can't go talk to them?" she asked, turning to look at me.

"You could try, but they'd really just be very rude," I said.

Then I saw a familiar mermaid on a rock near the beach, with red hair, a purple seashell bra and a green tail.

"Oh, except that one," I said, pointing.

"Can I meet her?" she asked.

"Sure," I said. "Let's go."

We walked across the beach over to the rock where Ariel sat.

"Ariel," I yelled. She turned and saw me, and was about to jump in the water when I said, "Wait, I want to introduce you to someone."

"Who?" she asked, suspiciously.

"This is Beth," I said, leading Beth forward. She was smiling widely. "She's the princess here."

"I didn't know Neverland had a princess," Ariel said, sliding off the rock and pulling herself half onto the beach.

"As of yesterday, it does," I said.

"Hi!" Beth exclaimed, trying to remain calm.

Ariel smiled and said, "Hello."

Beth sat down next to her and said, "You're so lucky to be a mermaid! I love the ocean, it must be amazing to live in it."

"It's alright, I guess," Ariel said, "but I actually want to be a human."

"Really?" Beth asked.

"Mhm," Ariel hummed with a smile.

"I'm sure there's magic for that," she told her.

"There is," Ariel said. "I just can't afford the permanent solution. But once a month the sea goddess Ursula gives us a day that we can walk on land. I've had lots of fun in the time I've had up here."

"Cool!" Beth exclaimed.

I sat down in the sand and watched Beth as she spoke to Ariel. She smiled and laughed and always had the light in her eyes. It must be great being introduced to a creature you've always dreamed of meeting.

I saw Ariel whisper something to Beth, and didn't think anything of it, till she looked over at me and blushed.

"What?" I asked. Both girls giggled.

"What? What is it?" I asked.

"You're staring at her like you're in a trance or something," Ariel said.

"Sorry, am I making you uncomfortable?" I asked Beth.

"No, it's okay," she said, still blushing, but looking down and smiling.

"So how long has this been going on?" Ariel asked with a smirk.

"I dunno," Beth replied, still giggly. "Fifteen minutes?"

"Am I the first outsider to know?" Ariel asked.

"Yeah," I said.

"Oh, my gosh, yay!" Ariel exclaimed. "But, isn't there a bit of an age difference?"

"Well, he's probably about seventeen, ignoring the fact he's been here for a few hundred years, and I'm almost fifteen," Beth said. "So, yeah. But who cares? It's Neverland, somebody could be ten and the person next to him could be a hundred and seventy."

Ariel laughed and Beth smiled.

Beth and Ariel talked a while longer then Beth said, "Okay, well we're also gonna go see Pixie Hollow, so maybe I'll come down again sometime."

"That'd be cool," Ariel said. "Nice meeting you, princess."

"Nice meeting you too," Beth said standing up. "Bye."

"Bye guys," Ariel said, then pushed herself back into the water and swam away.

"She's great!" Beth said.

"I'm glad you're having fun," I said with a smile.

"Come on! I wanna go see the fairies!" she exclaimed, jumping like a little kid.

I laughed and said, "Let's go."

"YAY!" she yelled, then took off running towards the jungle. I laughed and ran after her, because she didn't know the way.
