Maya couldn't stop thinking about the kiss—replaying it in her mind as she stood, dazed, in the beanery. So lost in thought, she didn't notice the fridge door was still open until Andy slammed it shut. Teased by Andy and Vic for smiling at the milk, Maya brushed it off, unsure how to explain her feelings for Carina or where they stood. Before she could respond, a call came in, saving her from having to explain—for now.Later, after a tiring three-alarm fire, Maya leaned against the truck, physically and emotionally drained. Carina found her there, instantly sensing her exhaustion. Without needing words, she gently rested her forehead against Maya's, offering quiet comfort. The intimacy made Maya emotional, not used to this kind of tenderness.
Their moment was interrupted by Andy, informing Maya the twins had arrived early. Noticing the closeness between the two women, Andy put two and two together and smiled knowingly. Carina offered a final gesture of care, a gentle forehead kiss and a soft hand squeeze before leaving.
Alone in the engine bay, Maya gathered herself and headed toward the beanery to be with her boys, her heart a little lighter thanks to Carina's presence. She didn't know where they stood exactly, but she knew one thing for sure—Carina was already becoming her steady place.
