Maya and Molly approached Alicia's hospital door slowly. The two blondes stood outside and looked at Carina in an effort to get a vibe of the room. She waved them in, but met Maya halfway.

"Let's give them some space to talk, okay bambina?" the doctor suggested.

"Text us if you need anything," Maya said as the wives walked out hand in hand.

Molly sat down awkwardly in the recliner that was a few feet away from the hospital bed. Alicia looked at her with defeated eyes and patted the small space next to her on the mattress. Molly climbed into bed with her and draped one arm over Alicia while she rested her head on her chest.

After a few minutes of comfortable silence, Alicia spoke up and said, "I'm going to get the treatment."

Immediately, streaks of tears streamed down Molly's face. Tears of thankfulness, happiness, and relief. All of the above.

"Your mom might be the only reason you have to live-" Alicia cut her off.

She lifted Molly's chin and connected their eyes. "I was wrong to say that. You mean more to me than you know."

"Maya knows about us," Molly admitted quietly.

"I told Carina, too," the brunette chimed in. "Although, I think the two of them had us figured out." Alicia kissed her girlfriend's forehead and snuggled in close to her. "I'm so scared, Molls."

"I know..." the blonde didn't want to downplay her fear. She knew that this would be the most taxing and difficult experience of her life. "I am going to finish up the semester and then I will be back here to care for you. Maya said that I can stay with them when I come in on the weekends to be with you."

"Do your parents know you're here?" she asked.

Molly explained, "No, and I would prefer to keep it that way. Now that people we care about know about us, the last thing I want to do is go back in the closet. I can only imagine the things that my dad will say to me if he found out. I saw how he treated my brother when he came out, and I am not willing to put us through that same pain."

"Your last name really is the perfect description of your father..." Alicia laughed.

"They really should just change our last name from Dixon to Dick."

"Will you wheel me down to see my mom?" Alicia asked.

Molly kissed her girlfriends lips softly and said, "Of course."

The DeLucas walked outside to the coffee stand and took a seat at their usual bench.

"So, Alicia admitted that Molly is her girlfriend," Carina shared. She had a large grin across her face.

Maya laughed lightly and said, "So did Molly. I told her that she is welcome to stay with us whenever she needs while Alicia gets treatment. Sounds like her home life is pretty rough."

"That's so sweet of you, bambina. We should probably talk about Alicia's care as well. I know that we haven't known her very long, but I feel this overwhelming urge to protect her."

"I do as well," Maya added. "There's just something about her. I still wish I could figure it out."

"Oh!" Carina popped in and said. She lifted her finger in the air as she shared the new information. "She told me she was adopted. Said that her mama doesn't know that she knows, but it has never bothered her."

"Huh..." Maya mumbled. "Still doesn't explain..." the blonde stopped mid-sentence. "Oh my God."

"What?" Carina asked. At the same time of Maya's revelation, Carina got a text message from Alicia that just said, "She's gone." Carina stared at the simple message and turned it to Maya.
