Chapter 28

Josie stood outside her mothers' bedroom door and knocked. Loudly, she asked, "Mama, can I go outside and see if the girls are ready for the party?"

Maya and Carina had just reappeared from their sexy steamy shower and were getting dressed. The Italian cracked the door open and answered her daughter, "I'm surprised you're done with your nap, Jojo."

The little girl shrugged her shoulders. "Yeah, me too, honestly. Anyway, can I go out to the pool house and check on them?"

"Sure, bambina," Carina agreed. "Everyone should be here in an hour or so. I need to frost the cake, will you help me in a bit?"

"Yup," Josie said as she skipped away.

Carina closed the door and turned back to her wife. Maya was standing naked with a towel around her waist in front of their closet. Carina went up behind her and pressed her front against Maya's back. "Need some help finding an outfit, love?"

The blonde leaned back against her wife and nodded yes. Carina snaked her arms over Maya's shoulders and rested them on her breasts. Maya audibly gasped at the sensation. "Babe, I can't go again..."

"I know, I just like teasing you." Carina pulled away, but not before placing a soft kiss to Maya's fair skinned shoulders. She stepped in front of her wife and pulled an outfit from the closet and handed it to her. Maya admired it for a second and determined that it was exactly what she was looking for. The blonde slipped into the striped romper and tied her short hair into a top knot on her head. "Bellissima," Carina whispered as she found a new sundress to wear.

They quickly applied light makeup and hurried downstairs to finish preparations for the last minute celebration. Maya invited the entire 19 family over, while Carina invited their families and Amelia.

Alicia and Molly were out back with all of the kids running around the grassy area kicking around the soccer ball. Maya and Carina stood at the backdoor and looked out at their family. Carina swiped her hand over Maya's stomach and leaned in and said, "I can't wait to add one little more bambino or bambina."

Maya blushed and she held Carina's hand to her stomach. "Me either, love." They stared for a few more seconds before the captain spoke up and said. "I think I decided what I want to do about the chief position."

"Oh yeah?" Carina asked.

Maya nodded and bit down on her lip. "I'm gonna go for it and if I'm pregnant, then so be it. Being chief puts me in an even safer position. I will do anything to make sure I come home to you and our babies and this is one extra step to ensure that."

Carina turned to Maya and held her face in her hands. "I'm so proud of you, bella." She placed a light kiss on her nose and smiled. They held each other for a minute until Jojo busted through the backdoor and demanded that her brothers be grounded for cheating. The wives shook their heads in laughter and went their separate ways to finish getting everything ready for the party.

Maya went out back and got the grill set up with the help of Alicia, while Molly kept the boys busy on the swing-set. An hour passed by quickly, and soon enough everyone started to arrive.

Andy walked in with Tanner and Jack. She was carrying a large balloon arrangement with multiple "Congratulations" and "You did it!" balloons. She smiled brightly as she handed them to Alicia. The teenager set them down and wrapped her biological mom into a tight hug.

"Thank you," Alicia whispered. She didn't mean just for the balloons. She meant everything. Andy understood and squeezed her even tighter.

Maya watched from across the room and nudged Carina to look in their direction. The Italian whispered, "Wow, that seems like a huge step."
