Wow... well I am back after a very long hiatus. I have done a whole lot of soul searching the past 13 months and am finally feeling myself again. I have decided that this is the final chapter of this story. I am thinking of writing something new in the future, but I knew that this story needed closure first. Shoot me some ideas of what you want to see next from me.

xoxo forever

1.5 Years Later...

"Andy is going to meet us there, right?" Carina asked Maya as she loaded their bags into the Porsche.

"Yes, my love, she is already on the way," Maya said with a weak smile. Pain jolted through the blonde as she waddled to the car and held her big belly.

Life had been chaotic the past year and a half. Once they returned from their vacation, the news broke that Andy had returned home from her visit to Sullivan's. It turns out that he had become addicted to pills again and was involved in a lawsuit that could take down his entire fire department. Andy kept it under wraps because she knew he dealt with major addiction issues during his time in Seattle. The former battalion chief knew that Andy helped Sullivan hide it from them, that is why they refused to promote her. Andy sat Maya and Carina down and apologized profusely and explained the situation to them. Their friendship was fragile for a few months following, as Maya tried to rebuild the trust they once had, but ultimately Maya knew that she couldn't do life without her feisty best friend.

The wives returned from their trip feeling more refreshed than ever. Maya was officially the battalion chief and she was not willing to put her dreams of carrying a baby to the side. The DeLucas used the same sperm donor that they had used with the boys, but this time they did not find out the sex of the baby beforehand. They wanted it to be a surprise.

Maya settled in the front seat and blasted the air conditioning on her face as another contraction ran through her. It may have been the middle of winter, but sweat was pouring down her pale face.

Alicia ran around from the back and yelled, "Don't worry, I have it all under control here with the kiddos! Good luck, moms!"

Alicia had started to call Carina and Maya her moms a few months after their trip. She knew that her adoptive mother would always hold a special place in her heart, along with her birth-mom, Andy. However, it was Carina and Maya who really helped guide Alicia through grief, pain, and life. She couldn't be more grateful for them.

Just as Carina buckled in and began to back out of the driveway, a little curly headed girl strolled out the front door dragging a small rolling suitcase with her. The doctor hit the brakes and raised her eyebrow. Josie threw open the back door and climbed in.

"You didn't think you were doing this without me, right?" Josie asked sassily as she buckled her booster seat.

Maya huffed out a large sigh and mumbled, "Jojo, you need to stay with Leesha."

Josie refused and rebutted, "I already know everything about how babies are made and where they come from, mommy. If I want to be at the top of my medical school class then I need to get the experience while I can."

Carina rolled her eyes and said, "Jo, you are seven years old, baby. You have time."

"Ugh! Fine!" Josie grumbled. "But, I get to hold the baby first before the boys."

"Deal!" Carina agreed. Josie hopped out of the backseat and ran to Alicia's side. She held her hand and waved as the moms pulled onto the street and drove to the hospital.

"Breathe, bella, you got this!" Carina said as she positioned herself between Maya's legs. They had talked a lot about it and ultimately agreed that Carina needed to be the one to deliver their child. "Give me a 10 count push, Maya."
