We spent the first half of our Lego time in silence, and I had gone as far as to plug in my headphones, and had begun humming along to Linkin Park.

Suddenly, the verbal silence was broken.

"So, what have you been upto?"

I looked up, shocked.

"What? Don't look at me like that. We're going to be spending the whole week together. We might as well make an effort."

"I guess so."

I turned my headphones and iPod off.

"I've not been upto much. You know me, I never am."

Keith laughed, reminding me how much I loved it when he did.

"No, I do know you. And I know, you're never 'not upto much'. You have a tendency of somehow being a part of everything. So, tell me... What's really been going on?"

"Haha, you got me there. But seriously, school's all!"

"Really? No... Boys?"

I felt myself turning red.

"Like I'd ever tell you that."

"Oh, so there is a boy..." Keith asked, smiling.

"Oh, Keith... You wish. Unfortunately, there isn't. I'm sorry."

"Sure... What about Aaron?"

"What about him?"

"Well, he clearly likes you. I mean he was humming that Lion King song and everything!"

Oh hell. He noticed.

"Oh Aaron! Yeah, he's my latest summer fling." I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at that lie.

Keith looked a bit disappointed.

"But, it's still winter."

Now, I did roll my eyes.

"By the way, about earlier..." Keith began.

I panicked.

Is he talking about seeing me shirtless?! Oh my god, now what do I do?! Ah, shoot shoot shoot!

"Yes... Er, earlier... Thanks for coming to check out me."

I slapped my hands over my mouth.

"Check on me! Check on me! That's what I meant."

Keith frowned.

"I was actually talking about the fact I spammed your doorbell. I mean, if I'd known you were sleeping, I would have just come back later."

"Oh."

It was awkward after that.

Suffocatingly awkward.

"So..." I chuckled nervously.

I seemed to be doing that a lot around Keith. God, I hope I wasn't obvious.

"So, what?" Keith asked, not looking up from his Lego.

"So, how's your football been going? Anything to... Look forward to?"

"Oh... Well, it's been going good. I have a selection soon, and if I make the team, I get to travel Europe for a tournament."

"What? Dude, that's awesome! All the best to you! I'm sure you'll make the team. You're the most talented guy I know!"

I smiled happily at him, while he looked shyly back at me.

"O-oh yeah, thank you!"

I smiled at Keith again, and then I got back to my Lego.

~~~~~~
Keith and I stood up, admiring our fantastic brickwork.
Then, we looked at each other, and laughed before promptly giving each other high-fives. But then, I stopped, and so did Keith.
Have his eyes always been that... Brown?
I snapped out of my trance and looked at our hands, which had been interlaced, and cleared my throat.
"What?" Keith followed my gaze. "Oh um, sorry!"
He let go off my hand, and we looked away from each other.
"Would you like some lunch?"
Keith looked back at me.
"Sure! What's there?"
"Well, mum cooked a whole vat of biryani, without extra oil, so even you can eat. And there's some other stuff too, like sabudana kichidi, and I can make you a sandwich if you'd like."
"Eh, don't bother. Let's just eat the biryani."
So, Keith and I went to the kitchen and filled our plates with the spicy delicacy, before putting our plates in the microwave.
I pulled myself onto the kitchen platform again, while Keith stood beside me.
"Hey, are you still ticklish?" Keith asked, turning to me with a don't-lie-to-me-I-already-know-the-truth smile.
"No!" I exclaimed quickly, thinking I'd still get away with it, but no such luck.
"Liar!" He smirked at me, and at that moment everything stopped. I wished that I had my phone with me so I could have taken a picture of his perfection.
His dark curly hair framed his face perfectly, his white teeth shone under his smirk, and his eyes crinkled making him look like a care-free little boy, and I swear, I could see a halo dancing above his head.
But, something pulled me out of my little day dream.
The beeping of the microwave, our food was ready.
Keith had heard it too, he began turning towards the microwave, and I made a move to get off the counter, when my hand slipped, which made me slip, which in turn sent me tumbling off the counter.
Good bye, light. Hello, darkness.
But, something made me halt an inch from the floor.
Keith.
I turned upwards to face him, which proved to be a bit of a mistake, because our faces now had probably a centimeter (at most), between them.
Keith came a little closer, and I was tempted to do so too, but even if I leant forward a little, I knew our lips would touch.
So, instead a leaned back a little trying to get away, and Keith got the hint.
He straightened up, and pulled me up with him, making sure I was properly balanced before he took a step away from me, putting us at a safe distance.
Could my heart be beating faster, right now?
