My vision danced in and out of darkness, but as soon as my head touched the pillow, my eyes opened drowsily.

How did I reach here?

The last thing I remembered was passing out on the couch, just as T'Challa's car got busted.

Then, I heard some shuffling. Sleepily, I turned my head towards the source of the sound.

It was Keith, bustling around with a toothbrush in his mouth, while he examined his hair in the mirror.

He caught my eye in the mirror, and turned around smiling. Then, he made stuck out his index finger in a 'one minute' motion, and ran in the general direction of the bathroom, only to emerge a few minutes later.

"You're still up. Thought you would have dozed off by now."

I groaned, and lifted myself on my elbows.

"Yeah, I have to brush my teeth."

I jumped out of bed, and headed towards the bathroom, while Keith went to get some water.

By the time he was back, I was back in bed.

"Hey, uh... Are we going to divide the bed?" I asked.

"Do we need to? I mean, if we do, we're going to end up on the edges of the bed."

"I guess you're right."

"Plus, I don't roll around at night. Do you?"

"Nope."

"Eh, then there's nothing worry about."

"I guess so..." I yawned widely, unable to stop myself.

"Woah, there sleepy-head! Why don't you get to bed. I'll take care of the lights."

"Yeah, okay." I mumbled sleepily, before collapsing promptly under the blankets.

"Good night, Kylie." Keith said gently, poking my cheek.

I chuckled, softly.

"Night, Keithy."

~~~~~~
Light flooded into the room, and I groaned, yanking my blanket over my head.
"Ouch!" Someone yelped.
My eyes widened.
"Sorry, Keith!"
Hey, wait a minute. Keith sounded really...
I turned my head towards Keith's voice, and my breath hitched.
"Uh, Keith... Your hands..." Keith's muscular arms were wrapped around my waist, pulling me against him tightly, and his face was buried in my shoulder.
Keith groaned before he looked up.
"Hey, Kylie... Oh my gosh, Kylie! I'm so sorry!"
Keith tried to untangle his hands from under me, but he failed. The force he used sent me off the bed, and onto the ground below.
"Ow! Really, Keith?!"
Keith bolted upright.
"Shit, Kylie! I'm sorry!"
I sighed.
"That's okay. I mean, there's nothing like getting shoved off the bed first thing in the morning, to start off your day!"
Keith laughed nervously.
"Hey, Kylie..." Keith frowned at his phone.
"Yes, Keith...?"
"Do you want to come to the mall?"
I looked at Keith, exasperatedly.
"My parents aren't even letting me go to Naomi's! Why do you think they'll let me-"
"Because my parents checked with yours and they said yes."
My jaw dropped.
"Wha...? That doesn't even make sense! How-why'd they suddenly say yes?"
"Because, I'm going with you, I guess. I couldn't come with you to Naomi's house, so I'm assuming that's why you couldn't go."
"Wow." I groaned. "Apparently my parents think you're more capable of protecting me than I am. Splendid."
"Well, I'm a year older, I'm physically stronger, and I'm a boy."
I looked at Keith blankly. "So? What if you're a boy?"
Keith just stared back, silently. As much as I didn't want to admit it, I knew all of what he stated checked out. In my case, at least.
Sure, I could take at most 2 people down, but I knew Keith would always have a better chance at doing the same, than I would.
And I hated that. I hated feeling weak.
Nevertheless, I broke eye-contact with Keith.
"So, what time are we leaving?"
"Hmm... What about 11? That way, we can have lunch there, instead of back home."
"Cool!"
"Great then! You go get ready, and then we'll go up to my house. Sound good?"
I nodded, and ran out to go get dressed.
