I woke up and sat up. I looked around but the children weren't in the bed. I left the dorm and ran downstairs, almost falling down them. I sighed in relief when I saw them on the sofa with the twins. George looked up and saw me standing there. He stood and walked to me.
"Sorry, I should have left you a note. They woke up early and came down here. We all wanted you to rest. I know you haven't slept much lately." He told me.
I nodded. That was generous of him. I looked around the common room for the clock. I spotted it and saw that it was a little after eight. Still fairly early.
"Who wants the first bath?" I asked, clapping my hands together.
Hope stood up and grabbed my hand. I nodded. I looked at Lucy who smiled softly at me. I looked up at George and he nodded. I nodded back to him and led the way to the dorm. They will be safe with the twins.
I walked into the bathroom and ran a bath. Hope got changed out of her pajamas and climbed into the bath, playing with the bubbles. I smiled and poured some conditioner into my palm. This is going to be the hard part. I heavily conditioned her hair, spreading it generously over her knots.
I washed the soap from my hand and pulled up my sleeves. I helped Hope wash the rest of the body as the conditioner set. I picked up my brush from the side and placed it next to me. I rinsed out the conditioner and gently started to tease the knots out.
Hope scrunched up her face but didn't cry. When my arm grew tired, I applied some more conditioner, letting it sit in for longer. I washed the conditioner out and brushed her hair slowly. This time all the tangles came out. I smiled, pleased it went quickly. I washed her again and then made her stand.
I picked up a towel and placed it on the floor for her to step on. I then stood up and wrapped her up in another towel. I dried her and got her dressed in the clothes that I had sorted out yesterday. I brushed her hair again and French braided it.
I held her hand and walked her downstairs. She ran and sat by the fire to dry her hair. I sighed and looked at the other children. Ben and Jamie would be quick to do. If I do them now, then I can quickly get to someone else.
I picked them up, settling them on my hips. I walked upstairs and to the bathroom. I took off their nappies and cleaned them up before I placed them in the bath. I washed their hair, making sure not to get any soap or water in their eyes. I then washed their bodies.
I pulled Jamie out of the bath first. I swaddled him in a towel and pulled out Ben. I pulled the plug in the bath and swaddled Ben in a towel. I rubbed their bellies, making them chuckle and flap their arms around.
I dried them and got them dressed, making sure they both had nappies on. I combed their hair, pulling apart the small knots that had formed. I stood up and picked them both up, settling them on my hips again. I took them downstairs and settled them on the sofa next to George and Fred.
"Hey, are you okay?" George quietly asked, holding my wrist.
"Yeah, just a bit tired." I replied.
He nodded and ran his thumb over my wrist bone before letting go of me. I turned away from him and crouched in front of Liam. He looked up at me with worried eyes. I smiled at him and he smiled back, calming down.
I used the sign language for towel, indicating bath time. He nodded and made the sign for ready. I smiled at him and picked him up, he instantly took a hold of my hair and started playing with it. I walked upstairs with him and ran a new bath.
While we were waiting for the bath to fill, Liam used the toilet and then started taking his clothes off. I put some bubble bath in and spread the water about, making multiple bubbles. I turned the taps off and put Liam in the bath. I washed his hair using shampoo and conditioner, his hair wasn't as bad.
