The Letter Of Disappointment

I awoke and got dressed quickly, slinging my tie over my shoulder, not bothering to put it on yet. I looked out the window and saw that it was still dark outside. I quickly made my bed and grabbed my bag. I walked down the stairs and stroked Nala before I left the common room.

I walked down the stairs and passed the great hall. I then walked out of the castle and walked down to the lake. I layed down on the grass and looked up at the sky that was just starting to get light. The sky blossomed with streaks of orange and pink with a few dashes of purple lurking around. I sighed and smiled. I always looked forward to this part of the day.

Once the sunrise was over, I sat up and took out my transfiguration book. I read through all of the pages and made notes on a flashcard of all the spells I wanted to learn and how to learn them. I then did the same with the other subjects. I then took out my wand and was about to start practicing when an owl swooped to a stop next to me.

I looked at it and saw that it had a letter in its beak. Excited, I opened it and read it. My excitement died when I recognised Cathy's handwriting. I read the letter over and over again, hoping that the words would somehow change. But they didn't.

Cathy said that she didn't want me to talk to the children anymore and didn't want me to visit either. Not even at Christmas. She said that she didn't let Lucy read the letter for her own good. What does that even mean? I slumped down and cried.

I heard footsteps and looked up in alarm. I wiped my eyes hastily, not wanting anyone to see me cry.

"George, don't sneak up on me. You scared me nearly half to death." I commented, hoping my voice wouldn't break.

He took the letter out of my hand, ignoring my protests and read it.

"Well, for starters I will spend Christmas with you at Hogwarts and we will have the time of your life and I will make sure that mum knits you a Weasly jumper, that way you will feel like a part of the family. But for now, come with me." He said, taking my hand and pulling me to my feet.

I grabbed my wand as he grabbed my books and started shoving them into my bag along with my quill and flashcards. He then took my hand and walked with me to the castle. I frowned wondering where we were going, as we walked past the great hall. We walked to the common room and he helped me inside and then handed me back my bag. "Put that upstairs and then come back down." He told me.

I did as he asked and then he looked at me before face palming himself. "Here, stand in front of me." I stood in front of him and he placed his fingers gently around my neck. He tied my tie for me, his fingers lingering a little longer than needed. I thanked him and stepped away from him. He took my hand again and led me out the portrait hole. We walked down the stairs and to the basement and stopped in front of a painting of some fruit.

George tickled a pear and a door handle appeared. He pushed down on it and opened the door. We walked in and I looked around to see some rather odd looking creatures. Seeing my confused look, George said they were called house elves. I nodded and we walked over to an oven. He turned to me and asked me how I felt about making cookies.

I looked at him with my mouth open. "We can't make cookies. It's only our second day at school, we have to go to our classes." I told him, tugging his hand and trying to lead him out again.

He pulled me to him and I fell into his arms. "I can sort it with McGonagall and anyway I thought all this up as you mentioned that you liked to bake when you're upset or stressed." He said, rubbing his hands up and down my arms.

I smiled at his attentiveness and thought about it.

"Fine. But only for today. Okay Georgie?" I told him. He looked at me and his face split into a huge smile.
