Y/N's POV
Since reinforcements from the Chou Royal Family will take a bit for them to get here through the Mariana Trench and to the cavern. We planned out and make do with what we have at the moment which isn't much since the mermaid population severely plummeted due to them being locked up.
Yeji, Sunwoo, and I cannot take them all on our own and we have to be careful not to be lured in by their singing. Thankfully, Christopher came prepared for this, he gave us these hearing devices to put on our ears that will protect us from the singing.
We insert the earpieces into our ears before putting on our rebreathers. Fighting underwater is going to be difficult since will be floating around and the sirens will have the upper advantage since they can swim faster with their tails.
We armed ourselves with our rifles and our weapons, some of them can work underwater while some of them are completely useless like my flamethrower in my vambrace.
"There's no way we can win, not like this," Soojin said and Sunwoo patted her back.
"Your right, that's why we have to hold them off until reinforcements get here," Sunwoo explained to her and she smiled.
"You're so cute, you know that~?" She flirted with him and Sunwoo playfully rolled his eyes.
"Aish, will you stop it, Soojin!" Yeji scolded and she giggled.
"Okay, okay, whatever you say." She replied which made Yeji groan.
I shook my head at Yeji and Soojin bickering about my son's love life, I mean it's not surprising in our culture that a 5-year-old child is married to a fully grown vampire. Loading the last round in my rifle, I tell the two girls to quit arguing and that we have a fight with the sirens coming up.
Yeji glared at Soojin and she just smiled back at her, anyway, Sungkyung had already gathered whatever forces were left, I examined the tridents they wield and it was clearly outdated compared to our beskar spears and weaponry we use. Definitely going to take care of that as soon as all of this is over.
All of the mermaid royal guards and soldiers gathered at the gate and we exited the kingdom turning from human form into mermaid form, we all swam to the place where the sirens are hiding at.
Putting down the rangefinder on my helmet allows me to see with heat vision which makes it easier for me to spot any enemies but so far there was nothing but fish and a coral reef.
Getting a feeling that the sirens are planning a trap, I spotted a heat signature that represented a mermaid which alarmed me. I signaled the mermaids along with Sunwoo and Yeji to stop.
"What is it?" Yeji said through the communication device hooked up to the rebreathers.
"I think I spotted a siren," I informed her but it was too late as I heard screaming in the water.
