There was a state of uproar on the seventh corridor. As Percy, Leo and Annabeth reached there, they could see the a few Hogwarts students fighting black robes figures. The demigods ran to the fight, their thoughts about keeping their identity a secret forgotten, when Annabeth suddenly stopped,
"Oh gods! It's Dumbledore!" Annabeth said looking lost.
"Where's Dumbledore?" Leo asked, his eyes raking the war of lighted spells.
"No, it's Dumbledore, who planned all of this. Of course, he's got Athena's blood, a master planner, that fool!" Annabeth was speaking.
Percy and Leo exchanged looks. Clearly, none of them got the idea of what Annabeth might mean.
"Uh.. Annabeth? Should we help those students? They're doing good till now but they are exhausting" Percy said waving a hand in front of her just as Leo ducked to prevent a green spell, that had reflected off a wall, from hitting him.
Annabeth seemed to come to her senses. She looked straight at the fight, her gray eyes reflecting the different colors of spells like a firework show, "No", she said, "We, first, have a talk with Dumbledore" And with that she dived straight into the fight with a dagger in her hand.
"What makes you think the old man will be in school today? Wouldn't he be fighting with us then?" Leo said as he threw a fireball at a male black figure. The man pointed his stick at him and something like 'expelliarmus' and looked confused when it seemed to not have worked. Leo aimed a fireball at his head and the man went down, fainting.
"Oh, he will be. This time, he will definitely be there, that son of a-" Annabeth broke off as she was forced to kick a shrieking woman out of her way. That woman went on sprawling to the floor where another student got her.
"I'm rather glad you never got to complete that. He's your mom's son after all" Percy said, slashing riptide with years of experience to make way to Dumbledore's office.
Without much blood and lots of fainted enemies, they finally reached Dumbledore's office. The stone gargoyle was somewhat smashed and did not ask them for password.
"Something bad is happening inside" Percy said, straightening Riptide.
Annabeth pushed the door open and they hadn't moved a step when they found six wands pointed at them by more black robed idiots.
"Just your luck, Greyback. Maybe you won't have to eat that old, weakened fool. You've got healthy children for that" said a badly haired woman, as a very ugly man next to her grinned, showing his yellow teeth. Annabeth's eyes flared but she did not move. They needed a plan, a full-fledged clever plan.
"I wonder what brought you three here when you were definitely told not to interfere" Dumbledore's voice rang out and the demigods, for the first time, noticed the graveness of the situation.
Dumbledore was cornered leaning at the wall beside the window, a pale figure pointing a wand at him. He was clearly outnumbered.
"Dumbledore!" Annabeth exclaimed and made a move toward him when suddenly a wand was pointed at her heart.
Riptide was a blur in Percy's hand as he snapped the man's wand and slashed him to the floor where he lay twitching.
"You do not touch her" Percy growled at the man on the floor, just as a the bad haired woman yelled "Avada Kedavra !" and the green spell hit Percy squarely in the chest.
It seemed as if the whole room was holding their breath. Annabeth yelled "No!" as Percy stared at his chest in disbelief.
A moment passed and nothing happened.
"Ouch, that was hot", Percy's voice rang in the stillness of the room. Almost everyone gasped but relief was evident on Annabeth, Leo and Dumbledore's faces.
"Bellatrix, there must be some problem-" a man started,
"There was no problem! The spell hit him!" The bad hairdo women, Bellatrix shrieked, "Who are you? Another baby to thwart the Dark Lord's plans?"
