There are many people who are afraid when they find themselves in a dangerous situation or when they are on the verge of death, there are others who calmly wait for it because they know that it is a stage of life that we will all go through at some point. Also, there are people who worry or fear for the lives of other people close to them or even fear for strangers without having a reason...they only know that when someone is not living their life with happiness and pleasure, it is something to worry about.
The Cullens, the Swans, the Blacks, and the guys from the reservation were all scattered around the waiting room hoping everything would go well with Honey. Edward, Bella and Charlie were sitting in the chairs closest to the door. Sam and Paul were sitting on a couch by the window that overlooked the parking lot, Jared was on the floor leaning against the couch next to Paul's legs playing with his fingers. Jacob was standing next to his father's wheelchair with Billy's gaze on the door and suddenly turning to look at the Cullens. Rosalie and Alice were leaning against the wall on the other side of the door, right in front of the Swans and Edward, with their respective partners hugging them from behind. Carlisle was going in and out of the room to go check for any signs of Honey. He returned to his family with more and more heaviness on his shoulders.
Alice was trying to see Honey's future but she couldn't. Every time she tried, a cloud of golden mist appeared in her head and then disappeared to leave everything black. Edward tried to read Honey's mind but the same thing happened with him. That perplexed them both and Alice had the idea to visit Honey and see if they could find out anything about what was going on. Edward read her mind and turned to look at her while nodding. They both got up from their chairs and approached Carlisle who had just returned from the ER under the gaze of all those present.
- Carlisle, we need to see her. - Edward murmured still knowing that his family and the wolves could hear him but wanting to avoid attracting more attention from Bella and Charlie. Carlisle looked at them with uncertainty because he didn't know what they were planning to do. After all, he wasn't the one reading minds. Both Alice and Edward noted his hesitation in letting them go.
- Listen, I can't see her future and Edward can't read her mind. We need to know what's going on and we want to be close to her to see if anything could give us more information. Nothing bad is going to happen. I promise. - Alice reasured him and with a last look, he led them to the room where his mate was.
Charlie and Bella didn't give it much thought but the remaining siblings and the wolves were staring at both of them with curiosity reigning in their chests.

As they got closer, Alice and Edward tried to use their abilities again and noticed that the golden mist that had clouded them before was getting smaller and smaller.
Carlisle stopped in front of the door and turned to see them.
- I hope you know what you are doing. - he pointed at them.
Both, Alice and Edward, nodded and entered the room searching for Honey. When they got to where she was, sadness invaded them when they saw her connected to several machines and without her characteristic smile that she always carries. Alice walked over to Honey and sat down on one end next to her. Edward did the same but on the other side of Honey and took her hand.
- Hey, you know? We'd love it if you could wake up and tell us what's going on so we can help you. We are worried about what happened at the Black house. - Alice whispered.
Honey didn't move a single muscle. Edward let out a heavy sigh (even if it wasn't that necessary).
- Come on, we need to try. - he said to Alice. She nodded.
Edward tuned out everyone else inside the ER and concentrated on searching through Honey's mind for some answer. Alice mirrored his actions and tried to focus on seeing Honey's future. The golden mist from before reappeared but it was getting smaller and smaller until it reached a point where only black could be seen, Edward neither heard nor saw anything. Alice kept forcing a vision even though she knew her visions don't always come on the spot.
Suddenly, an invisible force pulled Alice out of her trance. It was as if something was blocking her from Honey. She frowned and turned to Edward for the same reaction but was surprised to see that Edward was still focused on reading Honey's mind and that he had a sour expression on his face. He was trying too hard on searching.
Edward felt a block trying to keep him from reading Honey's mind, as if there was a wall between him and her thoughts. He felt how his body was tensing with the effort and he also felt Alice's gaze on him but he couldn't allow himself to lose concentration, he had to get out of there with something that would help them know what was happening. He wasn't going to stop.
After a few seconds of continuing to force his power into Honey, he felt whatever was blocking him losing its resistance. He could navigate more easily. Out of nowhere, the wall disappeared and several images directly attacked Edward's mind.
Two little girls running under the sunlight.
Laughs.
The same girls growing up.
A fight.
A car crash.
A blinding golden light.
Edward felt himself drowning in his own thoughts and the sensation became physical. Why did he feel like this? What was happening? He tried to get out of Honey's mind but something wouldn't let him and the same images repeated themselves over and over again. Finally, everything stopped and Edward stood frozen in the dark. He heard someone calling him in the distance but he couldn't react. The voice was getting closer and closer and he could make out that it was Alice's voice. Alice? What was she doing here? He wondered as he tried to find her.
He felt a strong grip on his wrist and turned around expecting to meet Alice but great was his surprise when he found himself face to face with a version of Honey that he never thought he would see. Messy hair, her eyes red and swollen with tears running down her cheeks, an empty stare, her face red and her lips trembling. Edward was shocked to see her like that. What had happened to her? Was she the same Honey he knew? Was it even real? He watched as Honey parted her lips and let out a strange voice that chilled him.
- Go back, darling.
With that Edward snapped out of the trance he was in and looked around noticing that he was still in the hospital. Alice stepped in front of him and with a concerned look told him to look down. Edward followed her gaze to find a hand clamped tightly around his wrist. Edward followed the extension of the arm until he ran into the same eyes that tormented him a few moments ago, only they saw him without a trace of tears. They were just...watching him.
Honey had woken up.
