The most ideal place to start a story is at the beginning. The start of it all is either how the two lovers met, or where the adventure began. But why would you want to start there when you could just get into the better stuff.
3:24 AM. June 20th. Toshiko was sound asleep in her bed. She'd given up on waiting for her boyfriend to get home from a reported Nomu sighting. Normally Toshiko would be out there helping, but she had 3 days off of work for her birthday.
Bakugou was too tired to change into his regular clothes or go back to the agency to change and get cleaned up. After the Nomu was contained he went straight home. He noticed his key wasn't on him, most likely being with all his other stuff at the agency. He was tired though and didn't have the energy to go all the way back, no matter how close by it was. Kirishima could bring his car over tomorrow for him. Looking up at the building he and his girlfriend lived in, he could see the lights in their apartment were turned off, meaning she was asleep. If even one light was left on, he would know she was awake. It was a system they had made. The bathroom light would be on if they were awake, even if the rest were off. But if all the lights, including the bathroom light, were off, they would know their lover was fast asleep. Bakugou didn't want to deal with waking her and getting yelled at for being home so late and not bothering to go to the agency to get his stuff. He instead decided to make a small explosion to send him up, just enough to grab onto the window sill of their apartment. The window was open slightly, something that meant Toshiko didn't go to sleep right away and had been waiting for him, she normally sat by the window when she was waiting for him to get home.
Bakugou pushed the window open more, climbing in and nearly falling over. He stood up and closed the window before turning to look at the bed, seeing Toshiko's form. Her hair was messy and her phone was laying on her pillow, not plugged in. Bakugou smiled and walked over towards her. He grabbed her phone and plugged it into the charger, laying it on the nightstand. He moved some of her hair from her face and planted a kiss on her cheek. With that, he grabbed his pajamas from the dresser and went into the bathroom to try and clean himself up and wrap up his wounds so they could heal. He struggled but decided that he did well enough and returned to their room. He climbed to the other side, careful to not wake up Toshiko, and got underneath the covers.
Toshiko felt the presence of Bakugou laying down next to her. She turned around to face him, looking at him with tired eyes. "Hey Kat," Toshiko mumbled wrapping her arms around him and giving him a half-awake hug. Bakugou flinched a little when she hugged him, feeling the pain in his torso. A small 'hey' was all he could mumble out so he wouldn't yell out in pain. Toshiko opened her eyes more to take in his look. He was wearing a plain gray shirt and sweatpants. He had a small cut on his cheek that hadn't been there earlier that day. He also had a small grimace that to anyone else wouldn't have been noticeable except that Toshiko had known him for 9 years and could tell when he was upset no matter how hard he tried to hide it.
"Are you okay?" She asked him. "Yeah I'm fine," he lied, with a sharp intake of breath when she moved her arms. She sat, and stared at him with a look that clearly read, "You liar you can't fool me." Bakugou sat pulling back the sleeve of his shirt to show her some of the cuts he got from the fight. Toshiko could see his poor job of bandaging and got up telling him to follow her.
When they entered the bathroom, Toshiko flicked the lights on and went to the cabinet above the sink to grab some rubbing alcohol and more bandages. Bakugou sat on top of the toilet, pulling back his shirt sleeves. He knew Toshiko was already a bit worried about his wounds and he didn't want her to go into full panic with the wounds on his abdomen. Toshiko put a cloth in his mouth before taking off his poorly put bandages and using a cotton swab to put rubbing alcohol over his wound. Bakugou didn't need the cloth in his mouth since he only made a few grunts, but Toshiko probably knew that and just put it there to make sure he didn't talk.
As Toshiko put the bandages around all the wounds on his arms, Bakugou spat the cloth out. "You didn't have to do that dumbass." Toshiko stood up and ruffled his hair. "I know, but I didn't want to hear your complaining." Bakugou stood up, feeling the pain in his side. "Fuck," he mumbled. Toshiko looked back at him. "What?" Bakugou shook his head to dismiss her question and went to walk to bed, kissing her forehead. That's when Toshiko noticed blood bleeding through his shirt. "What's that?"
Bakugou glanced down and saw the blood. "Shit," he mumbled, lifting his shirt up to show Toshiko his large wound on his abdomen. Toshiko's eyes widened when she saw it. She looked back up at Bakugou who was looking away from her. She sighed and put the cloth back into his mouth, this time because he needed it to not scream out in pain. The wound was still open and Toshiko knew this one would be much more painful compared to the ones on his arms. Toshiko took a towel and wetted it under the sink with warm water. She cleaned the wound, trying to ignore Bakugou yelling curses at her through the cloth.
She finished bandaging his wound and took the cloth out of his mouth, allowing him to speak. "I fucking hate you." Toshiko rolled her eyes and planted a kiss on his cheek before putting the bandages away. Bakugou walked over to her and tiredly rested his head on top of hers. "You don't have to worry about me so much you know," he said, wrapping his arms around her. Toshiko rolled her eyes as she responded, "Oh yeah maybe next time I'll just let you get an infected wound."
Bakugou chuckled and went back to the room, Toshiko close behind him. "Nah you couldn't let that happen." Toshiko rolled her eyes and got into bed. "Or so you think." Bakugou ignored her comment and got into bed next to her. Laying down, Bakugou put an arm around her to pull her with him. Toshiko got comfortable and hugged him again, this time careful not to touch his wounds. Soon enough the two were falling asleep, Toshiko first followed by Bakugou.
