Meeting your next boyfriend

"You have exactly five minutes remaining," my math professor said, five flipping minutes, I still need to look over my previous answers. This is the last math class I'm taking for the rest of my school years. What the hell was I thinking when I signed up for Set theory? Focus Dalia, you have less than five minutes to complete this problem.

My mind was at a complete blank, it had run out of juice, it was fried, I stared long and hard at the problem. "1-minute remaining" Professor Ian chimed in. Oh hell, forget this, I got up from my seat and handed my exam to the TA.

"I expect great things when I'm grading this Ms. Jones" he whispered

"Well, you're about to be disappointed,"

"That is unlike you" he wore a silly grin on his face

"Times up, hand in your papers now" Professor Ian bellowed to exhausted students.

"Well I didn't have enough time to study," I said, And frankly I don't care.

"I mean if you are struggling, you can always schedule a tutoring session. I would hate to see such a brilliant student like yourself fail." he placed a hand on my shoulder, still sporting that grin.

"I am not saying I am going fail, Preston I am just not going get an A on this exam. I remember the last time you tried to help me, I rather take my chances and ask professor Ian for help." I removed his hand from my shoulder, he was such a flirt and looking for a sex buddy.

He was about to say something when Professor Ian called, "Preston please refrain from harassing Ms. Jones and bring the rest of the papers over. I don't have all day."

"I'm not harassing her sir, you shouldn't use those words, rumors spread like wildfire." he held up his index finger indicating that I should give him a minute.

"Harrass, flirt, tease, badger means the same thing in my book. Now hand over the papers, I have a hot date with a cold beer and last night's game."

Professor Ian was a strange breed of a college professor, he was truly one of a kind. "Drinking on the Job sir?" I asked

"Ms. Jones you know I would never," he winked and packed up the last of his stuff. "Preston I leave you here with Ms. Jones alone, please no funny business and especially not on my desk."

I scoffed, "He wished professor."

"Dalia," Preston said

Professor Ian left chuckling leaving Preston and me alone, "Do you mind picking up the pace?" I stood there impatiently.

He quickly shoved his belonging in his bag and walked over towards me, "Now where were we?"

I turned on my heels and headed for the door, "The part where you try to convenience me to sleep with you, by asking me to sign up for tutoring."

"Did it work?" he walked alongside me wearing that same stupid grin. I swear his face was permanently stuck like that.

I looked up at his 6'4 frame, "The answer is still no, and will forever be no" We stopped in front of an elevator, and I pushed to button.

"Why Dee, am I that much of a bad guy?"

I hated that he called me Dee when we were alone, no nicknames I don't like you like that.

The elevator door opened and two other students were already there, "Going down?" one asked

"Yes" I replied

Preston and I stepped in, "You are not a bad guy Preston, you're just not my type."

I see a blush creeping up on his cheeks, "Yeah, is it because I am white?"
