Very old-school, Prince Charming

The morning after the crossing, I slept in since my ankle was still healing and I didn't have work. *knock knock*

"Kai..." I call out.

*knock knock*

"Kaiiiiii..." I drag out.

*knock knock knock knock*

"KAIIIIIIIII!!" I yell. "Get the door please!!" A moment goes by and from my room, I hear the front door open. There's some footsteps and I hear my door open softly. I open my eyes and look up at the door to see Heather peeking her head in.

"Heyyyy..." she says grinning.

"Heyyyyy" I respond sitting up. She walks in with Natalie and Bishop behind.

"So we stopped by Dot's today," Bishop says with something behind his back. "Dodge asked us to bring this to you since he's working right now." He hands me the styrofoam box and sits on the edge of my bed while Heather and Natalie go around the other side and climb on as well to watch me open it. I lift open the cover and inside is chocolate chip pancakes. Awwwww.

"Mmm, smells great," Heather inhales. We all share the pancakes and talk for a bit. We joke around and just catch up since Panic and our jobs have been keeping us busy.

"So how's the ankle?" Heather asks.

"Still a bit swollen," I update. "I'll probably be fine tomorrow."

"Hey that's good," Nat grins.

"So what are your guys' plans for today?" I ask.

"Well, I have to help my dad with some stuff," Bishop answers.

"I have work at Anne's," Heather responds.

"I think I'm gonna hang out with Shawna today," Natalie replies.

"Shawna?" I ask.

"Yeah, gotta get intel somehow," she replies half-joking. We all talk a bit more and then my friends end up saying their goodbyes. After they leave I sit there for a few minutes trying to decide what I should do with all this time in bed. There's a light knock at my door.

"Come in," I call out.

"Just wanted to check on you," Kai says slowly opening the door and leaning on the frame.

"Well," I start. "I'm super bored and I'm just now realizing how bored I'm gonna be all day since I should stay off my ankle to let it heal faster."

"Well then this is the perfect time to get an opinion on my one-man show of Annie," he says while proceeding to horribly sing "Tomorrow."

"Wow, that was..." I nod, "really really bad," I say breaking out into a laugh.

"At least you're honest," he says. "Wanna watch a movie?" he asks.

"Sure." He puts in some action movie and we start watching it but I fall asleep halfway through. I wake up to Kai asleep next to me and the TV off. I decide to let him nap a bit more, so I grab my sketchbook and a pencil, and I move to the living room to chill on the couch. I begin sketching for a bit with the TV on for comfort and background noise.

Eventually Kai wakes back up and comes out and we just hang out all day. We rarely see our mom and when we do it's short interactions. She's mainly sleeping when she's at home. She works really hard for us so we don't have to work as much, I also think she overworks to distract herself from the loss of our dad. I try not to think about him a lot either but every time I sketch it's almost like i'm not exactly thinking of him but more like feeling him in the back of my mind. Sometimes I feel like all I do is think so I hold on to the things that give me a break from my mind.
