Bruh he left my door open
—
I need to talk to Dodge. My thoughts are cut off by a worried Bishop entering the room. "Hi," he says with a sad smile.
"Hi," I reply.
"Hiiii," Kai waves without looking up from his book.
"How are you feeling?" Bishop asks.
"I'm okay," I say softly.
"Heather is down the hall and I just want to say we were so worried about you," he starts to tear up a little bit. "I just wish I was there for you guys." I give a small and short smile.
"It's okay," I whisper as he sits next to me.
"Heather wanted me to tell you that she's thinking about you and wants to see you as soon as you guys can."
"Of course."
"How did it go with Nat's dad?"
"It went okay, I wasn't sure which cop would interview me but I'm glad it was him. Just did his job and I did mine," I say referring to what Nat asked me to say. "How did it go for Heather?"
"It was fine. Ya know what's funny?" he gives a sad chuckle. "She said if she was gonna die, she was okay knowing it would be right by your side." Now I start to tear up.
"Well good thing we're still here," I try to stay optimistic.
"Yeah," he says before giving me a hug. "Have you heard from Dodge?"
"No, I'm sure I will as soon as we're both okay," I say. Not sure if I'm trying to convince him or myself though.
"Okay well get better soon okay?"
"Of course," I nod. He leaves and now it's just me and Kai.
"Where is mom?" I direct myself to him.
"She's at work still," he checks his phone. "It's almost 5 though, I can call her," he offers.
"Yes please," I nod. Kai dials and gets out of the seat to sit next to me on the bed. The phone rings on speaker. Two rings. Three-
"Hello? Kai? Is Delilah awake?" My moms voice comes from the phone.
"Hi mom," I smile.
"Oh my goodness, Honey," I can hear sniffles. "Im so sorry i'm not there right now. Im off in just a bit and I will be there as fast as possible, okay?"
"Okay mom," I laugh at her frantic relief.
"I love you so so much. I'll see you soon," we say goodbye and she hangs up.

Im in my room (at home) and there's a knock at my door. I call for them to come in. "Hey," Kai approaches me at my desk. "You haven't left this spot in like a week," he pokes me a bunch.
"Ahhh," I swat him away. "It's only been a few days since i've been home and I haven't just been in this spot. I was also over there," I point to my bed.
"Oh my God, Lilah. When is your boyfriend coming over? Shouldn't he be like forcing you out of your room?" I haven't heard from Dodge yet actually. I wanted to wait for him, but now i'm not so sure what Im doing.
"Uh, well, I told him I wanted some time to process everything that just happened," I reply.
"Bullshit—"
"Kai!" I lightly smack his arm.
"Oh whatever you curse all the time," he rolls his eyes. "But for real, what's going on? I know for a fact you would be all over him right now having him baby you!"
"Okay fine!" I pause trying to find the right words. Then I just let it out, "I don't know actually. I don't know what's going on. I should reach out but I don't know. I'll figure it out though. I think," I stress myself out.
"Just, take it easy. I know I internally vomit when I see you guys but he really likes you. I've never seen you let yourself be so... you around anyone else. It's kinda nice," he trails off. I sit and just think for a bit. "I'll be in my room, okay?"
"Okay," I reply. He leaves and leaves my door open with him. I stare at it. Bruh he left my door open. As I get up to close it I hear the front door. Instead, I leave my beloved room and walk into the living room to see my mom with a few bags of groceries. I take some from her and help her set them on the kitchen counter.
"Hiya baby," she greets me with a hug. "How are you feeling?" she checks in.
"Better," I say nodding.
"That's what you said yesterday," she laughs. "And the day before that."
"That's because it's true," I counter.
"Well good, I'm glad. You feel better enough to go get Kai so y'all can help me make dinner?" she asks.
"Yep," I answer starting to go get Kai.
We ended up making sinigang and rice. It was a nice reminder of my childhood. Kai made it a tad too sour though on accident. This was my dads favorite dish that my mom made. It's been such a long time now. But not long enough for me to not feel something while taking a bite of some of the veggies in the soup. I feel my phone in my pocket and pull it out to look at it. It's a text from Dayna.
Dayna: Will you please come over tomorrow. I miss you. I wanna show you some stuff!
I sit and stare at the message with my thumbs hovering over the keyboard.
Me: What time?
