TW: Mentions food, mentions swimming, anxiety, mentions of Virgil's death, regrets, fire is mentioned but it's in a fireplace and safely contained.
Sex is also heavily referenced and actually happens- don't worry though, there's no written smut. Small AN about that at the end of the chapter, actually.

Virgil's heart raced as he paced around his room. The clock was ticking way too loudly, reminding him of every second that passed. Remus was typing on his laptop, that was too loud as well, and Virgil didn't even want to think about his footsteps.
He wasn't prepared for this. Where was he supposed to go? Did the portal just spawn in front of him or did he have to go find it? Would he get there in time? What would the Counsellor think of that?
Usually he wouldn't have to worry about this, but after Logan saw him crying he'd urged Virgil to book an impromptu counselling appointment. If Virgil wasn't so bad at saying no to people, he would've point blank denied the suggestion. But, sadly, he was, so here they were.
"All right, what's wrong?" Remus sighed, closing his laptop and setting it aside. He met Virgil's three eyes, all wide with worry and clearly near tears.
"I- Nothing! I'm just a little nervous... You should go back to your laptop."
"Patton isn't in my lap right now-" Virgil took a few seconds to process before his face scrunched up in disgust. He should've really expected that by now... "and, besides, how am I supposed to write about school buses having sex when all I can hear is you stomping around?" Remus huffed and crossed his arms. Virgil sighed and sat down on the aforementioned's bed, looking over at the trashy vampire. He wasn't even going to ask about his weird ass fanfiction.
"I'm sorry. I just... I mean, you know I'm not great with people. And the thought of being in the same room as one for an hour, talking about myself and showing this random all the reasons why I'm a travesty of a being..? Well..." Virgil chuckled humourlessly, crossing his legs and fiddling with his hands in his lap. "I'm not exactly looking forward to it..."
Remus sighed, nodding in understanding and pulling Virgil into a hug.
Virgil froze and slowly wrapped his arms around him, slightly resting his head on Remus' shoulder. Remus felt kind of warm, but not uncomfortably so. If he'd had his wings exposed, they probably would have been fluttering or wrapping the two of them in a cocoon. He hadn't had his wings out since he died, though. It kind of hurt, but he just couldn't bare to look at them.
"I know how you feel. But honestly? Truly honestly... Emile's a really great guy. I mean... Earlier today, when they called him in to help me, he was really kind and patient. Even though we'd had this talk at least a thousand times. He even offered to let me sign up for every Friday, just after your appointment. Paperwork was a drag, though."
"I know... He's probably really nice! I know that..." Remus sighed and pulled away, looking into Virgil's eyes and holding his shoulders.
"Virge, he's here to help you. It's his job. It's what he loves to do. If you let him in, you'll be surprised how much he can help. He can't fix you, but he can give you the pieces and the glue." Virgil let a small grin grace his lips and stood up, filling Remus with so much pride and joy. He nodded to himself. Maybe he could do this...
"Yeah... You're right... Thanks, Rem." Virgil couldn't deny the anxiety still bubbling in his stomach, but he felt a little bit braver. Yeah, he could do this... Not easily, but he could do this.
"This shit's getting too sappy." Remus groaned, hiding his face under a pillow. "I want some dick. Might call Patton over later. That ok with you, Viagra?"
