Everything was hazy.

Lights were flashing behind his eyes. Kaleidoscopic colours were dancing behind his eyelids after the hand of his mother had pushed them down. He could feel her anguish, even if he couldn't feel much.

Even as all the light was suddenly blocked out, the repetitive thudding of dirt hitting wood was the only thing to focus on... He couldn't feel much of anything.

Until all he could smell was the earth and all he could hear were his own murmurs, the melodic drilling of a dead man's tones.

He smiled. Cold, sown-shut lips smiling.

Soon.

Remus choked as he blinked open his eyes.

That... What was that?

"Muds, relax, please. It's me, baby. It's Patton."

"P-Pat?" Remus whimpered, trying to wipe his eyes and look up at his boyfriend.

"Shh, shh. It's ok, honey. It's just me and Jan."

"D-Dec?" The other man holding him seemed to falter slightly, freezing up on the spot.

"Y-Yes, Remus. It... It's me." Janus muttered, running a gloved hand through his head.

"Is Ro gone..?" Janus and Patton seemed to make eye contact before shaking their heads. Remus whimpered before hiding his head in his boyfriend's shoulder.

"Jan? Can you go get Remus some ice?" Janus nodded, reluctantly walking away from a whimpering Remus. He almost wanted to cover his ears, to lie and say that Remus was just fine. He couldn't, and he knew that... But...

Urgh, he fucking hated Roman right now. Even when they were still brothers and close, Roman had always put Remus down or had brought out the worst in him. You know what? He hated Roman, period.

That's why when he saw Roman and Logan talking in the kitchen, the water in the kettle wasn't the only thing boiling in the room.

"Get out of the kitchen. I don't want /either/ of you in the house right now." Janus growled, storming past Roman to the fridge, plastic cup in hand. Logan almost flinched out of his way, but Roman stayed put until Janus shoved past him, knocking him into the counters.

"Oww! Why are you being such an asshat? Remus isn't worth this much trouble!" Janus' eyes flared, slit narrowing until you could barely see the black of his pupils. Horns burst from his head and he could feel his fangs stinging, aching to tear into Roman's neck.

Sadly, that didn't do anything to other vampires other than causing them pain. Though, even that sounded delightful.

His voice was low but not as smooth as usual, in fact, it was much more gritty. "I will have you know that the only reason I'm not ripping you to shreds is that Remus is in the other room. He's scared and hurt and he needs me and his boyfriend.

If you or Logan try to keep me away for one more second, I will /personally/ see to it that you're both banished to the lowest ring..."

And you couldn't blame Janus for taking immense satisfaction in the horror that spread across both of their faces. "Let's not take things that far, though." Janus grinned, showing off rows and rows of teeth, tips glowing yellower than his eyes.
