I was numb all over, and my thoughts came unbidden. There was no filter on my mind anymore, nothing to protect me from spilling my guts. There was a flash of heat and the numbness faded. There were spikes of fire everywhere. Every limb in my body felt like it was being twisted backwards and set on fire at the same time, yet I couldn’t move. A huge weight was pressing down on all of my limbs, keeping me carefully pinned down. I heard a click, and then there were footsteps. Who was walking in? Where was I?

“Oh, you’re here.” a familiar voice exclaimed. Who was that? I knew I knew that voice from somewhere.

“I came as fast as I could.” Oh, I definitely knew that voice, too. Who were these people?

“How long have you been here?”

“I was the one who found her. I rode with her in the ambulance.”

“Oh my goodness! Are you alright? That must have been awful.”

“I’ve seen worse.” There was a long silence.

“Have you eaten anything since you got here?”

“I haven’t left this room. Not for anything.”

“I’ll go get you some food, then. How does that sound?”

“That would be amazing, thanks.” There was a long silence after that, and I began to wonder if both people had left.

“Oh my God, Skye… this is all my fault. I can’t believe that I did this to you.” The voice cracked a little. I immediately wanted to reassure them. Don’t be sad.

“I am so so so sorry. I can’t even begin to tell you how sorry I am. I wish you hadn’t seen any of that. I wish that I’d noticed that you were bleeding earlier. I was just so glad to see you…” There was another long pause.

“If you believe that everything's alright, you won't be all alone tonight. And I'd be blessed by the light of your company, slowly lifting me to somewhere new. Oh can you tell, I haven't slept very well since the last time that we spoke. You said, "Please understand if I see you again don't even say hello”. Please.” The voice was absolutely beautiful. I silently urged them to continue. It was such a gorgeous sound.

What a night it is, when you live like this and you're coming up beneath the clouds, don't let me down. All the love's still there I just don't know what to do with it now. You know, I still can't believe we both did some things I don't even wanna think about. Just say you love me and I'll say "I'm sorry,

I don't want anybody else to feel this way" No, no, no.” I felt something weird in my chest. It felt… broken.

Oh can you tell, I haven't slept very well, since the last time that we spoke. I said, "Please understand I've been drinking again, and all I do is hope”.” They laughed slightly, but it sounded almost like a sob.

Please... stay. Please stay. I'll admit I was wrong about everything, ‘cause I'm high and I don't wanna come down. All the fun that we had on your mothers couch, I don't even wanna think about. I'm not strong enough for the both of us, What was I supposed to do? You know I love you, Whoa-oh whoa-oh. Please just stay. Stay,” the voice stopped singing, and there was a brokenhearted noise. Now I knew they were crying.

“Look… I’ve already lost my mom, and even though she was a shitty mom, I still miss her. You and I… we’re so much more than that, so wake up. Please, please wake up. I will understand if you don’t forgive me, just please wake up.” The voice said. Wait… I tried to say, but my brain was foggy. I was struggling to think properly. They had lost their mother… was that Deck? The sound of footsteps clicked through the room, and I heard the door close. The familiar tugging of sleep pulled at my consciousness, and I could only pray that I remembered this conversation when I woke up…
