"Yeah, you did," you smiled, kneeling down and patting her head. "I'm really proud of you, Little Goofball." She smiled broadly, nuzzling her head into your touch.
You yawned, sitting up from laying against Glacier. You looked around, confused that there wasn't a weight anywhere on your body. "Little Goofball?" you called, standing up. "Leaf! Leaf, where are you~?"
You stepped out of the cave. "Leaf! ... Leaf!" you walked around before stopping since you heard rustling in the bushes. "Whoever you are, come out," you commanded fearlessly.
A dragon about the height of your waist stepped out. It reminded you a bit of... "Leaf?" you asked, tilting your head while eyeing the green dragon. "Is that you?"
"Mhm," she nodded. "I woke up today and felt bigger so I went to check my reflection," she explained, excitement and urgency in her voice. "It seems I've grown."
You took a hesitant step forward, inspecting the dragon. "It seems you have...," you muttered, deep in your thoughts. "Glacier told me something about this the other day. The growth spurt that most dragons have when they're around your age. Then they grow from being close to the size of a hatchling to their full growth in the span of a month."
You looked at the Lycanwing with wonder, tracing your hands along her back. "I never thought about seeing that process, really."
She smiled, turning around and nuzzling her head into your side. "But it's still me," she said, the child-like excitement in her voice. "Right? You won't drive me away?"
"Of course I won't, Leaf," you chuckled, rubbing the top of her head, "for me you'll always be the little goofball I know you are in your heart."
"Thank you," she smiled, licking your face.
You suddenly heard a low growl from behind you. "Get away from her."
"Woah, woah, Glacier," you turned around in an instant, standing in front of the new-grown dragon. "Calm down, it's Leaf. She just grew, just like you said dragons would."
"Oh," she realized, sitting down and whipping her tail a few times out of friendliness. "Welcome to be a big dragon, Leaf. How are you feeling?"
"I'm feeling kind of odd actually," she admitted, smiling bashfully. "It needs a bit of time to get accustomed to the fact that I don't fit everywhere I used to anymore," she ended the sentence with a chuckle.
"You'll get used to it," Glacier assured. "Now let's go. Yesterday evening, when you were sleeping, N/n told me about you and flying. I'll take you for a lesson."
"Thank you, thank you," Leaf chirped, excitedly bouncing around Glacier. "Can we go? Pleaaase, Y/n?"
You grinned fondly. "Go ahead. But be safe and come back by dusk!" You slightly shouted the last part since they had already started moving. You shook your head, heading back into the cave. Wonder where Dalfon is... I think I should take him for a ride since I haven't done that in a while.
