Chapter Twenty-Eight: Split

**Liam's POV**

Niall fades in and out of consciousness as I rush him to the hospital. Katie had gotten too far out of control so I sent Zayn to bring her back to where we got her. Niall will probably be pissed at me, but right now it's not one of my priorities. I most definitely didn't need a small blond constantly asking millions of questions and then getting reserved and shy the next second.

Niall groans again, trying to get out of my hold. I pick up the pace and practically jog towards the huge hospital doors. Fortunately, the doors are automatic and within seconds I'm inside.

"Liam, put me down," Niall groans.

"I can't. Just hold on!"

"It hurts!"

Niall shouldn't be in this much pain. There's something more wrong than him falling on a steel chair. It worries me that his lips and fingertips are turning blue. He probably doesn't notice but his breathing is getting shallow. It scares me to think that he might be reaching his end so soon...

Stop it Liam. I promised him that I would make the pain go away. I'm going to keep that promise.

"Excuse me?! Do you need assistance?!" I had been so caught up in my thoughts that I almost passed the check-in desk. There's a woman who's gathering up things, looking as if she might leave.

"Hi, yes my friend needs immediate attention." I rush towards the woman at the desk. Her brown hair is up in a ponytail revealing brown eyes to match.

"I'm afraid we don't take walk-ins-"

"WHAT?!" I pause to let the sudden anger simmer down a bit. "You don't take walk-ins?! This is a hospital woman! What do you mean you don't take walk-ins?! Do you want him to crawl in?!"

"Look sir, please calm down. All the doctors are currently busy-"

"But what about them?!" I motion towards a couple doctors sitting around talking to eachother. They certainly don't look busy.

The movement of me pointing has Niall groaning again. "Liam put me down."

"Look at him! Would you just look at him please? He needs medical attention right now."

"Policy says that we cannot take any walk-ins. I'm sorry sir but I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

I growl in frustration. "I'm not going to leave until he has some kind of doctor seeing him!"

There's a couple people turning to gawk at us now. My loud outbursts are obviously unheard of in a hospital but I'm annoyed. What kind of hospital doesn't take walk-ins?! What if someone's dying?!

"I'm afraid I'm going to have to call security to escort you out then, sir."

I frown and look down at Niall in my arms. His eyes are closed again, his mouth open. The pain must have knocked him out again. God, this whole thing was sickening and tiring.

"If you want, I can schedule a future appointment for you sir," she says.

I look back up at the secretary. She doesn't understand the situation I'm in. She looks too young to have lost anyone close to her. Her brown eyes aren't filled with sympathy. She doesn't feel what I am feeling.

Niall suddenly gasps, his hands clutching at my shirt as his body caves into itself. I stare at him. I'm helpless. I don't know what to do as his eyes squeeze shut, tears leaking out of the corners. I can't even imagine the pain he's going through.
