CHAPTER 10
[ 10,590 words ]

"DO YOU HATE EACH OTHER?" , a very confused violet asked, biting a part of her sandwich as her eyes flickered between her mom and dad

"of course not!"

"well i mean —"

"lauren..."

"i'm kidding jeez. no violet, jaeden and i don't hate each other" lauren clarified, chuckling softly as she picked up a napkin, wiping violet's lips.

it's been a little over two weeks since lauren and jaeden told violet the truth, and things have been relatively smooth sailing since. legal things aside — because that was hella confusing — everything was going pretty well.

violet's classes ended a lot earlier on fridays, so every friday, jaeden and lauren are going to make it a point to pick her up and have lunch together so violet could get a sense of family. after which uncle justin would pick her up so they could go to their dance classes together.

it was a friday, so jaeden, lauren, and violet were sitting in the cafeteria of the studio, where jaeden and lauren were working at, having lunch together.

"but if you're my mama and dada, why don't you live together like my classmates' mamas and dadas? and why don't you hold hands and kiss?"

"well — we're not exactly like that anymore. it's complicated"

"are you divorced?"

"do you know what that word means?"

"yeah, i heard it in my class. so are you?"

"no. we're not. we never got married"

"are you going to get married?"

"no — well i mean — no. we're not" lauren said firmly, jaeden pursed his lips and nodded in agreement, looking over at lauren before saying

"so you know how your uncle justin and aunt audrey live together? hold hands? kiss?"

"yeah?"

"yeah so, your mama and i used to be like that. that's why you're alive. your mom couldn't keep her hands off me, she always used to want to — ouch!", jaeden groaned softly upon feeling lauren kick him from under the table. she shot him a glare making him roll his eyes playfully, shaking his head before slicing violet's other sandwich for her, continuing his explanation with

"anyways so, we broke up. which is why we don't do that anymore. we still love each other, but not in that way" i think

"so when everything's arranged you're gonna have two of everything! two houses, birthdays, you name it."

"okay but just so you know it's not your fault that your mama and i are separated that's a whole other thing"
