CHAPTER 20
[ 7123 words ]

"THIS BETTER NOT BE A horror film or i'm going to kill you"

"now that's a phrase i haven't heard from you in awhile. suddenly i'm 18 and sitting in your living room"

"i'm serious"

"laur i can assure you, it's not"

jaeden and lauren, dating or not, could never say no to a movie marathon with each other. secretly, they were both film geeks. after watching films, they'd analyze aspects of it together. some of their best conversations came from the after of when they watched stuff together.

so when lauren suggested watching a movie together? jaeden couldn't say no. watching a movie together, alone? in his dressing room? there's no rejecting that offer. honestly saying he was excited was an understatement, he was surprised he was able to contain himself like this.

"what is it then?" lauren pouted, kicking her shoes off before plopping down onto the couch next to jaeden. she could've sat anywhere else in that dressing room and she chose to sit next to him. it's like she was trying to make him go insane.

"it's a romcom"

"since when did we watch romcoms together?"

"laur we always watched romcoms together"

"yeah i don't know why i said that. anyways, what you got? early 2000s? 1990s? rachel mcadams in any of them? julia roberts?", lauren, unsurprisingly, wasn't as good as hiding her excitement as jaeden was. it was just like old times, only thing missing now was a warm fuzzy blanket for them to cuddle under. maybe some booze but that's gone for obvious reasons.

"uh well, it's 13 going on 30"

"aw i love that! put it on!"

"i know you do" he grinned, scrunching his nose up at her before pressing play on the movie that was already set up. he was really just waiting for her. he's been looking forward to this since she suggested it.

they got settled in easily, they usually watched movies in silence so there really wasn't any talking, but he couldn't help but glance over at her a few times. she was adorable. he tried not to stare, but jaeden couldn't help but watch her mouthing all the lines as the film went by.

when you meet her, you think she's some kind of dark and twisty person because of her love for all things murder (except horror apparently), and everything she's been through, but lauren was a hopeless romantic, and that's something you pick up the more you get to know who she is.

it was strange how the film and everything around them seemed to have faded into the background, all he could see was her. he wanted to kiss her so bad, to touch her and to just — to have her in his arms like he used to. watching movies with her was always nice, but it didn't feel the same, and it wouldn't until they were where they belonged and that was together, at least that's what he liked to believe.
