It took me a shameful amount of time to find the lair entrance again, I remembered it was in the Resident District, but anything other than that, I had no idea. And I had no idea how to get from the Academic District to the Resident District, it was just a whole mess. By the time I made it to the hideout, I knew it was just after midnight so everyone might be asleep.

I left out a soft breath as I went into the common room. I unhook Nicholas's staff from my back, propping it up against the couch before I collapsed onto the couch, taking up the whole piece of furniture. I cover my eyes with my elbow as the pain in my chest, wrists, and left leg persisted. My leg did not appreciate all that running, the pain in it hit shortly after Ianite left. I guess all the adrenaline left my system after I knew that I was safe. All the pain that the adrenaline was blocking since I was in survival mode came almost full force which made me have to sit in that alleyway till I could grasp a hold of myself.

I felt something lick my hand and a wet nose nudges my hand. A smile drew across my lips as I knew it was Kala. She must have been waiting for me.

"Seto, are you okay?" I heard a voice ask me. I lowered my arm, seeing Violet and Kala. I forced myself to sit up, but when I put pressure on my cuffed wrists, I winced and there is no hiding that from her. "You're hurt."

I nodded. "Yeah..." I mumbled.

"Wait here, don't move," she told me before she left.

Kala sat beside the couch. 'How are you feeling?' she asked me through our mental link.

"Okay...can you go get my satchel for me? It's in our room," I asked her aloud. I need my pain medicine for my leg and she left to go get it. I closed my eyes as sleep felt tempting and I didn't feel like getting up to go to sleep in a bed. I'm exhausted both physically and mentally.

And I must have fallen asleep since I woke up to Violet in a chair next to me with my left wrist in her lap, working on getting the cuff of it. Kala laid on top of me with her head resting on my stomach and my satchel on the floor beside the couch. She was situated so she would put pressure on my sore left leg but instead all her weight pressed against my right leg and the couch. I rubbed my eyes with my right hand, the cuff chain hitting my face.

Violet glanced at me. "Sorry, I didn't want to wake you," she said as my right hand reached down and gently rubbed Kala's head. I felt her tail hit my leg repeatedly as it wagged.

"It's fine...You would have had to wake me anyway since my chest has burns on it...unless you were going to treat that while I was asleep as well," I said with an eyebrow raised at the end.

Her cheeks reddened as she looked flustered. "No, I need to wrap your chest, so you would be awake for that." I rested my right arm across my stomach as I felt my drowsiness start to capture me again. She must have seen how exhausted I am since she told me that I can fall asleep if I want to. But I forced myself to stay awake, I watched her get the cuff off my left wrist. She let the metal drop to the floor with a thud before she inspected my wrist. She pushed my sleeve up which I was too exhausted to argue against. I closed my eyes as I felt her turn my forearm over, probably to investigate further the damages to my wrist from the cuff, that's when I heard her gasp softly. That gasp reminded me exactly why I don't ever have my left forearm exposed.

My eyes snapped open as I felt her fingers on my arm, running over the long scar on my left forearm. I tried to pull my arm out of her grasp but she kept her grip firm. "Seto—"

"No, I don't know what the scar is from, it predates my coming to Vienna therefore I have no memory of receiving it," I lied to her to as least ease her mind a little. She stared at me, seeming to accept that answer...for now.
