When I opened my eyes, I not only saw what was the problem but felt it too. I felt warmness on my hands and wrists and when I looked down, I saw blood covering my skin but felt no pain.

That's when I realized that Riley's hands, wrists, and forearms were covered in deep gashes.

"Seto! Hold him!" Nyara shouted making me act and grab a hold of Riley, trying to keep him from falling off the chair. Nyara inspected Riley's arms.

I looked at her. "Can't you heal the cuts—"

"I would but whatever happened cut deep enough to damage his mana lines!" Nyara said before she gets up, rushing over to the study area and grabbing the blanket off the couch.

I looked at Riley, his skin is turning pale. I gently rest Riley to lean against one of the armrests, making sure to keep close by and grab him the moment I think he might be in danger of falling. I looked at his arms again.

What happened? How did he get hurt? Why did he get hurt?

Nyara had cut the blanket cut up; how she did that, the world may never know, but she wrapped Riley's arms in the cloth as I held his arms still for her. I heard Riley groan and whimper from the pain making my guilt only larger.

I knew this was a bad idea, we should have never done this. I should have never let him do it. I gritted my teeth together. It doesn't matter if this gets my memories back, I don't want people getting hurt for my benefit. No. No, I can't live with myself if something bad happened to any of them. And this, this is going to haunt me, especially if Riley's mana lines are permanently damaged. That is something that I may never get over if he can't do magic anymore.

I gripped Riley's arms, unaware that Nyara has been trying to get my attention. I only snap out of my thoughts when her hand grabs my chin and turns my head to her.

"Seto, are you hurt? You have blood on you—"

I pull my chin from her hand, shaking my head at her. "N-No, I'm fine. The blood is...Riley's..." I said not looking at her. Nyara nods and moves closer to Riley. She touched his cheek. I looked at him, seeing blood trickle down from his nose making me more worried.

"Riley? Riley? If you're conscious, open your eyes please," Nyara pleaded. It took a moment, but I see his eyes crack open. I see her smile in response. "Hey. I need you to stay awake, stay with me, okay? Seto and I are taking you to the hospital wing on campus. I want you to get a full checkup, just to be sure your mana lines aren't damaged," she said before looking at me.

My eyes soften at her. "Can't you do it? Aren't you a healing wizardess?" I asked.

She shook her head. "I am a healing wizardess, but when it comes to mana lines, I'm out of my league. I'm not skilled enough to do it properly yet and I rather not take any chances when I know there is an expert on repairing mana lines on campus," she said. I nodded, accepting that answer for now at least since there are more important matters at hand. I get to my feet, putting Riley's arm around my neck before pulling him up onto his feet. But once I get him onto his feet, he leans into me so much that it almost causes me to fall over. I grabbed his shirt, stumbling back a few steps to keep my balance and his as well.

"Come on, Riley. I'm not strong enough to keep you up on my own. You have to help me out here as well," I tell him. It's bad enough he is taller than me, so it's kinda hard to keep him supported. Nyara takes his other arm, helping me keep Riley upright. We make it to the staircase, stopping at the top of the steps.

And yes, it took a while, more than probably Nyara, Kala, and I would have liked, but we made it down the steps in about twenty minutes. But both Nyara and I could tell that Riley needed a break, so we gently sat him down on the second to last step. I kept a hold of him to keep him upright while Nyara and Kala stood by.
