Chapter 5

"Is what I'm doing right?" Aiden asked himself. He's currently sitting alone in his office, his head, resting on his hands, "Should I continue this?"

"Why are you talking to yourself?" Jaime stood at Aiden's door, his arms crossed and his body leaning against the door, "That's kind of creepy, dear brother" He teased but he still had a worried expression on his face.

"I'm just thinking of a few things" Aiden replied and ran his hands through his hair, leaning back on his seat with a sigh.

"And what would that be?" Jaime stood up straight and sat on the leather couch in the middle of the room.

"Them" Aiden replied and Jaime knew who his brother was talking about.

"You really care for them...Don't you?" Jaime raised a brow.

"Of course I do" Aiden looked at the glass window and saw the girls laughing together, "I want them safe...I need them to be safe. I didn't spend eighteen years watching over them for nothing"

"You are a good man, Aiden, you truly are. You kept me, Victoria, and Damien alive. You protected us from those nasty humans, you kept us alive" Jaime pointed out. Aiden looked back at him.

"Your my family, the only ones I have left. I can't lose any of you anymore. I all ready lost Princess"

"You didn't lose her, they took her from us! Don't blame yourself, you tried your best to keep her safe, that's more than enough"

"I don't know" Aiden said.

"Do you really value those girls?" Jaime asked.

"Of course!" Aiden replied.

"If you really do care for them Aiden, you know the right thing to do" Jaime advised, "And if your worried about them getting hurt, they have mates who are willing to give their own lives just to make sure she's safe"

"What about El?" Aiden asked, "Her mate left her for another girl" The thought of it got Aiden pissed, how could you leave your own mate?

"Then watch her again" Jaime said as he stood up from the comfy couch and headed to the door, "Keep her safe. And I'm sure when she kissed you..." He traited.

"Get out, Jaime!" Aiden sighed, his heartbeat raising after what Jaime said.

"Is the big bad shapeshifter blushing?" Jaime teased and Aiden glared at him.

"Want me to show Veronica your baby photos?" Aiden threatened.

"Okay! Okay, I'm leaving!" Jaime walked out of his room, muttering something.

Eleanor looked around the palace's living room. There's a chandelier in the middle of the ceiling. There are posts which looks like it was made for corinthians and are colored cream. Paintings of Aiden's family hung on the wall, but one painting caught her attention, Princess' portrait. She went to the poster and examined it.

"I see you've taken interest in that painting too" Coreen said approaching her. She stood beside El.

"Mhmm"

"Is there something going on, El? You're never quiet" Coreen asked, concern.

"What? W--Why would you ask that? Everything's fine!" Eleanor lied, she tried to sound cheerful but it came out forced.

"Don't lie to me" Corewn frowned, "You can tell me anything, El. Is it about...?"

"No" Eleanor replied, "I just learned to accept the fact that Louis loves someone else, not me, but it's fine, as long as he's happy, I'm happy!" Eleanor smirked. The frown on Coreen's face dissapeared, but she still has the concerned look plastered on her face.

"Hey Coreen! El! Let's go and catch fireflies! There are so many here!" Danielle said.

"Sure! Let's go?" Coreen asked Eleanor. Eleanor shook her head.

"You guys go and have fun" Eleanor said.

"You sure?"

"Yup! Positive!" Eleanor reassured her. Coreen left and headed to her friends. She sighed, looking around. A hand covered her mouth and dragged her somewhere. Her screams were muffled. They stopped in the middle of the hall, which was isolated.

"Hello Eleanor" His warm breath caressed her ear which made fear rush throughout her body, "Did you miss me?" Eleanor bit his hand and he pulled away cursing. Eleanor took that as a chance to run.

"Help! Help me!" Eleanor cried as she ran. The cracking of bones filled the room along with her cries. A loud growl bounced across the room.
