"Daddy?"

Auburn doe eyes stared up at the tall warrior as he impaled his sharp blade into his practice dummy harshly. Gabriel did not even bother to look down at his daughter as he took off his azure helmet swiftly. "Did I not tell you," Gabriel's tone was sharp as he clenched his fist, "Not to bother me when I am busy."

"But dad..," Petra mumbled softly before gulping thickly, "I am hungry." "Oh, quit your whining," Gabriel spat before roughly pushing the small child to the ground. Petra groaned quietly as she landed on her back and Gabriel scoffed, "You are pathetic and you should learn when to stop bothering the adults around here understand."

"Gabriel," A soft voice said, "Do not speak to her that way." "I can speak to her however I want to," Gabriel said gruffly as his fists curled into tight balls, "She knows not to bother me." "Do not worry," The women said gently, "I will make sure this does not happen again." "You better, Melinda" Gabriel mumbled underneath his breath peevishly before forcibly grabbing his sharp blade from the dummy steadily. The petite women grabbed Petra's hand as she slowly stood up to her feet again, "Come on Petra."

Petra whimpered as her ginger-haired mother led brought her into the small kitchen. "Sit near the fireplace ok," Her mother said before planting a soft kiss on Petra's forehead, "And you know not to bother your father when he is busy." Petra's mom scurried around the kitchen, "So do not bother him again." "Ok mommy," Petra said quietly as she gazed into the fireplace. Footsteps rushing about could be heard as the floorboards creaked.

"Josephine," Melinda shouted blaringly, "Hannah, come here now!" The siblings came stumbling into the kitchen crying over the other taking their toys. "Be quiet you two and sit down next to your sister." They did as they were told and wandered over to their older sister.

Petra's gaze, however, was locked on the fireplace as she gazed closely at the embers.

----

Petra was running through the forest and the radiant sun beamed down on her neck. She was huffing and puffing, yet she pushed herself to keep going. She could barely make out the obsidian in the distance as she narrowly squinted. When she reached the portal, Petra paused to catch her breath for just a couple of seconds.

"The nether was never a safe place," Petra mumbled underneath her breath before she stepped through the portal, "At least that is what mommy always said." The world seemed to spin as she entered, but when she stepped out, she gasped softly.

Petra was breathing heavily as she walked around hesitantly and taking in the new world around her. Fire and lava were simply everywhere, and Petra stared at it. "This is amazing," She said quietly. She shakily held the silver blade in her hand as she wandered around. Well, technically it was her father's blade, but that was a long story as to how she obtained such a thing that was for sure. Petra glanced around her briefly before bumping into a tall skeleton. Her eyes widened swiftly and acting purely on instinct she struck the skeleton with her weapon. She had struck the skeleton just as she had seen her dad do over the past years. Almost instantly, the skeleton struck back leaving Petra with a bloody mark across her forehead and taking her by surprise as well. Petra yelped before kicking the skeleton and a puff of smoke went up into the air. A lump formed in Petra's throat, and she felt sick to her stomach. "Mommy," She cried constantly. It did not take another second for Petra to leap up and rush back to the portal. Blood rushed down the side of her forehead and she groaned gently as she clenched her teeth. "I should have never run away," The seven-year-old whined. Of course, she never learned her lesson though.

A year later, Petra attempted again to run away and to the same place. This time she had a golden blade and she adjusted her bandanna before stepping into the large portal. "This time I am ready," The malnourished child claimed proudly as she puffed her chest out. In the corner of her eyes, she could have sworn that she had seen a pair of two white eyes. Petra wandered through the vast nether, constantly scanning her surroundings. Unlike the last time, she was on guard and more hypervigilant than before or at least she thought she was more hypervigilant than the last time. Petra held her breath and stood rigidly as she came face to face with another wither skeleton. Before the skeleton could do any harm, it was attacked brutally by a young man. With such ease and skill he shoved his weapon deep inside the skeleton. It was killed instantly.
