I stopped by Fez's shop to invite him to the party. I don't know if it was good idea to come, but I lost so much time growing up by telling "no" to every social event. I had to get away, get out of my comfort zone and finally get rid of my anxiety. But sometimes I was wondering, if my anxiety wasn't really just hidden intuition, with all the bad things that happened to me as soon as I decided to step out of my house.
I always imagined how girls get ready for those big house parties, dressing up, doing each others makeup and shit and had convos about all the guys that wanted to fuck them. But since I was the only child in my American family, I was kinda scared to ask if I can invite someone over, so I texted Jules and Rue that we can meet at Fez's shop. Knee high socks, another skirt, black sweater and dusty pink lipgloss. I was in fact, really boring with my looks, but as soon as I felt comfortable in my skin, my anxiety got also better. I looked at myself in the mirror, while brushing my long, dark hazelnut hair and noticed how much were my hands shaking. I got a random text from unknown number.
"Ready for tonight? Be sure you're looking as provocative as when you were running down the empty hallway on those high heels. I can only imagine how you're dressing up for bigger crowds. -N"
Who the fuck he thinks he is? Is he seriously trying to make me mad right before a party HE invited me to? How how does he even got my number? I wanted to reply, but I decided he's not worth any of my energy. I grabbed my purse and went right to Fez's shop.
"Hey everyone! Are you ready for this... epic party or whatever?", I said as I was already annoyed.
"Damn Ver, you look really nice. I didn't know you're hiding all this under those big ass hoodies", Fez said and I rolled my eyes and chuckled.
"Thanks Fez, you know how to bright up someone's day."
"I can't believe he actually agreed on inviting us. What did you do to him?", Jules asked.
"I have no idea, seriously, I feel like he's just playing with me. Like I met him once on my way from a restroom and he's already texting me and shit."
"Wait, did you gave him your number?", Rue asked with a frown on her face.
"That's the funny part - I didn't. You 3 are the only people who have my number so far and I'm pretty sure you don't talk to Nate Jacobs on a daily basis.. but what about you, Fez? Do you have anything to do with it?", I asked, trying to sound as calm as possible.
"I mean... me and Nate Jacobs have sum history.. but it's not very bright.. We barely talk if he comes to buy something... But this shit is mad sus, Ver, you should be careful around him."
"Okay, so first he made Jules look absolutely petrified back then in school and now you're telling me I should be "careful around him"? What does this all mean? And why are we even going to that party when clearly, none of you like him?"
"Booze... maybe some drugs. I-I'on really care." Rue said as she looked at me.
I turned to Jules. "And why do you wanna go if he makes you so damn uncomfortable? I really don't wanna sound childish, but this makes no sense at all."
"Listen, we just want you to have some fun while you're here and we will NOT make you go there alone. It's a huge party full of weird ass people, drug dealers, hoes and crackheads. We will get lost in the crowd and I'm pretty sure Nate will be somewhere fucked up on Vodka without even noticing that we snatched you from him. Don't worry about it, like at all."
When we arrived, the house was already crowded as fuck. We lost Rue as soon as we stepped in, while Fez went to talk to some boys. Jules took my hand and started to pull me towards a group of friends. She introduced me to Cassie, Kat and Lexi. They were all so sweet and welcoming, but the loud crowd and absence of space made me kinda nervous, so I told them I'm gonna grab some beer and come back later.
