They found her. We were on our way there now, FBI agents, officers, we were all clad in bullet proof vests. I was going to save my Tabitha and make the people that harmed her pay.
As we made our way down into that damp basement my heart sank. She had been here for days, enduring all kinds of torture. I could hear the sound of a whip and whimpers of pain coming from the next room.
I'll never forget the scene before me as we entered. Tabitha was bound against a wall with her back facing outward. Her back and rear were covered in blood and wounds from the whip.
"Tell me how much you love it, or I'll turn you around and who knows what will happen to that little bastard growing inside you," her stepfather yelled.
"I-I love-" she whimpered as one of the men interrupted. As he raised the whip again. He held a knife in his other hand.
"Freeze!" he yelled pointing the gun at her stepfather. Knowing he was caught, he launched at the officer with the knife. With two gunshots, he was on the ground, dead.
I ran to Tabitha, gently covering her with a blanket a paramedic had given to me before we entered.
"A-Alex?" she whimpered.
"It's me baby it's me," I spoke, trying to get the rope off of her hands.
"Why are you here?" She cried. "Why are you saving me?"
"Because, I love you," I whispered as I kissed her gently. "You, Clarissa, and our child are my whole heart. Without you, I cannot live."
"I heard you," she cried.
"I was talking about the business deals my father had been making despite 'retiring' he was damaging the business and forcing his issues onto me to fix," I explained, finally freeing her from the rope.
The blanket brushed against her back, and she whimpered softly. "It's okay, I'm used to the pain," she spoke.
"Nothing about this is okay, my love. But you are safe now, and he can never hurt you again." She stumbled against me.
"You don't have to do this, you don't have to be bound to me. You deserve someone whole, not someone beaten and used like me," she whispered raising a weak hand to caress my cheek.
"You are the only thing I've ever wanted, my love," I spoke nuzzling into her shoulder.
"How do I know that?" She teared up, as I pulled her into my arms.
"That's easy," I smiled.
"What do you mean?"
"Stop trying to force yourself to accept it, and stop being upset that you haven't yet," I said carrying her out of the room. "Let me take some of your burdens, let me spend my time proving to you how much I love you and care for you. Let me spoil you and treat you well, and I don't mean just by buying you things. Let me spoil you with affection and care," I said to her as I carried her outside.
We heard another gunshot come from the cellar, but I refused to let her look back. Once at the ambulance, they looked at her open wounds and insisted we go to the hospital to check on the baby.
It was one of the scariest rides of my life.
