4 and a half months before the wedding.
Christian.
Day and night, all she could think of was him. Head over heels in love won't even cut it. In the words of Earth, Wind, and Fire, they really met on the 21st of September. After that, the sails on that ship wouldn't stop all the way till Christian proposed.
In her mind, though. She had one question that she wanted to ask. Was it appropriate for her to continue to be in this hot period with him even after so long? Could it be a mistake for accepting his proposal when they've never really gone through a cold period in their relationship?
Never mind, she thought. They've already gone so far, why stop now? Arguments and fights, they've actually gone through. But, it was the fact that one of them would surface back up rather quickly that no cold period really happened. Was that a good thing within itself? Be it, however, she hated not having any answers at all.
In fact, there he was in front of her in his house right now.
"Is there anything that you wanna get when I'm outside?" She asks.
He dropped a few dishes into the dishwasher and looked back at her with large eyes. "Umm, me perhaps?" Those large eyes wanting affection from her, she loved them as he looked as if he was begging for her before she used her palm to playfully slap her away.
"Alright, aside from you."
:/ His expression was like. "I don't quite know right now, would you want me to come with you?" His voice was tender, soft. It was masculine, yes, but there was a different feel to it that only Aaliyah herself knew.
"Don't you have work with you or something? You're gonna take a few weeks off for the honeymoon, so you better stay back to your commitments, right?" She tried not to laugh and be the more mature figure to him as he slowly waltzed his way in front of her and took her hand.
"You do know that today's a Sunday, right?" His smile was bright, perhaps even brighter than any dental commercial you would ever see on the telly on Saturday mornings when you watch your kids' shows you did as you were a kid.
"Yeah, today's a Sunday, which doesn't mean-"
"You've forgotten that I don't work on Sundays again." He looked at her bluntly, as if he wished for a firmer answer that she could've remembered what he did for a living.
"Oh, I FORGOT!"
He chuckled a bit softly at her, the bubbly attitude of hers would have some downsides at times, won't it?"That's alright, Leah." He kept the same demeanor he had and went to the living room. "Call me if anything's up, yeah?"
It took her a few seconds to process what had happened inside her brain and she paused for a while. "Ah, okay." She left the house softly, obviously not showing any sign of remorse whatsoever due to the fact that they've done this so much on a daily basis that it was like a routine for them.
For him though, he was thinking about the same things she was earlier. It wasn't that he was starting to regret being the approaching one and making her become his fiance already, but it was more to the fact that he should've given it more time to think of. Not every day would you always look at the fairy tale part of one's life and say: We could have a love like that as well.
And yet, reality would be what bites the most as well in other ways.
He sighed and smiled at the same time.
Sat back down on the couch, there were a lot of things going through his mind, in all honesty. Not just with the fiance job, but also with his career in thought. As an auditor by day and a comedian by some nights, at times he would feel bad that he wouldn't be able to accompany Aaliyah when she deserved it, which was granted, most of the time. True, both of them knew that he was doing this for both of their sakes in getting hitched quicker, but it was also another sinking fact that the fatigue was getting into him, and in all honesty, that was reality.
Mens regnum bona possidet.
An honest heart is a kingdom itself.
If that was the case, should he let her worry about him? He knew himself about this. He did all of this just to see her smile, did all of the BTS (Behind The Scenes) work just for their relationship to flourish. It wasn't that he didn't see her give any contribution to the relationship, but as a stereotypical man's idea, it was more to the face that he wanted to do it for reason and reason alone.
Problem is, she is worth it, right?
If she is, then what else would be the problem?
The book placed in front of him stayed there, full of the natural thoughts that he had thought about while on this world for 26 years. True, perhaps it was too early for them to get married, but that's what both of them have wanted for years.
Were they rushing it?
Were they not rushing it?
Do they want it?
Do they not want it?Answer: All of the above.
The book closes.
The fairy-tale that he had always wished of it always existed in the heart, in the mind, and in the soul. The problem is right now was whether the fairy-tale could merge into reality or not.
Right again, he despised it.
Despised the fact that not many people would believe in fairy-tales happening.
Despised that people don't understand why others would believe in what they wish could exist.
Out of all of them, despised the people that tried to crush that fairy-tale because of the disbelief in reality. He snapped out of it, out of his mind and brain as he looked at what they could do now.
He laughed at himself, luckily no one was there to see him act like a fool.
Why would people care as long as that one person was able to make it happen for the people he cared for the most.He looked at his hand, a simple yet beautiful ring placed by his ring finger.
Why regret when you know that you have someone beside you to face the tests and problems that come your way?Damn, if only he thought about that sooner.
Just as so, a ringtone to Steven He and Bastille's Emotional Damage X Pompeii remix came into the background. Someone was calling.
"Yello?"
"Is this Christian Brown?"
"Yes, yes it is," He paused. "May I ask who am I talking to right now?"
"It's Peter Ariason, bro!"
"Peter Ariason?" He had to go through the brain a while, (reminded him that Aaliyah does the same at times) "You mean the Peter Ariason who was my senior back in high school?"
"I thought by the voice, you could recognize me."
"Sorries, man. Couldn't recognize it. It's been 8 years now, hasn't it?"
"Sure has," The voice was light, reminded him of some A-list artist, same as he did with the stage back in high school those years ago. "So listen up, are you free today?"
"You're in LA?"
"Sure am. Came back to check on my folks upstate with Gwen and Gwen wanted to meet up with her friends so I couldn't think of anyone to hang out with today."
"Come over to my place then, I'll send you the address then."
"Alright, cheers," Peter replied, and the call was cut off.
"Damn, the dude is still the same," Christian laughed, without a care in this one for a long time as he fell back to the couch for the third time in an hour.
'Wonder how's Peter going on now with Gwen?'
A/N: Y'all probably know what reference am I going through with these two? Stay back and you'll find out soon!
