"I don't know anymore." Those words echoed in his head.
The real reason why he left her, or she left him(no one, even the both of them knew the real truth?), was that he felt he was somehow too late in making her happy enough. It sounded very weird, knowing well that he had always tried to make her smile with every chance and opportunity he had.
"So, between the both of them, they had lasted long together, even after the long-distance challenge."
Long-distance wasn't a big challenge nowadays with connection and communication being easier, but still, as Gwen would've known, not seeing the other person for long would have its own repercussions.
"He was now in the Juilliard School, New York, while she was in Ohio, Northcoast MTA. They'd both continued to be in contact, and in all honesty, it was a challenge for both of them." Daphne was looking at Gwen with a concerned demeanor.
"It was all until something had happened to Julian that the relationship started to waver." Gwen started to stutter. "It was 2 months before he realized Selene was in New York with him, so it was none of her business."
"Julian was working as a part-time waiter and studying music still in Juilliard. Being able to juggle that for weeks, it took time for the wheels to fall from the train."
"When he injured his metatarsal in his second year, right?" Ethan asked. The younger one in the group tried to lower the coldness in the whole situation.
"Yeah, the metatarsal on his left foot."
"With Sabrine in the finals of her second year before moving to practicals, Julian had urged her not to come back and visit him and continue to focus so that she can continue without problem in her third year onwards."
"She had no choice but to oblige, Julian, giving her no choice in the matter for her good. What he did not know was that their relationship had already started to fall apart a long time before this happened."
"So why did we come to this part of the timeline?" Daphne asked.
"Because this was when he found out the truth about Sabrine."
"What do you mean by the truth?"
Christian shook his head in disgust. Aaliyah had her expression masked away cause she was the same disgusted as her fiance was.
"Let's just say, that there was another girl in this story."
To none of their surprise, no one in the group was so shocked that there was a third party in there.
"So he had another woman behind her back?" Daphne had a question mark over her head.
"More like, Sabrine had," Damien replied.
"In a way, no one actually realized that this had changed in Sabrine. For Julian, it 'wasn't that he turned a blind eye or anything of the sort, it was more that he didn't know at all, and that was what led to this thing that happened to the both of them."
"To be honest, if someone were to have cheated on Julian, would he actually still have the heart to take the person back?" Yulia suddenly asked, shooting daggers at her boyfriend.
That took everyone to a sudden brainstorming session before Gwen, again, was the one who spoke up.
"Yeah, I think he would. His heart is too soft to even try and reject someone asking for forgiveness and the sort."
Speaking of a soft heart, they all thought about what happened between him and Selene. Figures.
"Sabrine had met this woman in the middle of their second year when they started to work together, and-" Gwen paused.
