Ashton: age 11

Luke: age 10

 Since the innocent kiss Ashton gave Luke in the first grade, things have been normal, but not for Luke. He still thinks of that day, and how Ashton’s lips felt on his. Now being in 8th grade, Luke understands the whole kissing thing. He made the mistake of  having one of the girls in his class kiss him the same way Ashton did, just to see if there was anything different, and there was. He liked Ashton’s kiss the most.

 Luke felt he betrayed his best friend, and they tell each other everything, so he was nervous on how Ashton would react. Now, they were sitting in Ashton’s house, having their annual weekend sleepover.

 “Hey Ash, we’ve been friends for a long time yeah?” Luke said and Ashton grinned.

 “Yup, 7 years,” Ashton smiled.

 Now Luke is just stalling, he has to fess up.

 “I kissed Stephanie!” Luke yelled then covered his face with the pillow. He didn’t want to see the sad face that would probably show on Ashton’s cute face.

 He then felt someone poke his side, and looked up to see Ashton staring into his eyes with a confused expression on his face.

 “Why?” he asked and Luke sighed and sat up on the couch.

 “Because I needed to know,” he said.

 “Know what?” Ashton asked sitting next to him.

 “If it felt the same as the one you gave me when we were kids,” Luke said covering his face back with the pillow.

 “Luke stop, if you think I’m upset about this I’m not,” Ashton said and Luke looked up once again and smiled.

 “You're not?” he asked smiling a little blue eyes filled with hope.

 “No, but why her? She’s icky,” Ashton said making a sour face and Luke laughed.

 “She is, but I had to test it on someone plus she was the last one in the classroom,” he replied.

 “So, you liked it better when I kissed you?” Ashton asked blushing.

 “Yeah,you were my first kiss Ash,” Luke said resting his head on his hand staring at the floor.

 “Well, you were mine too,” Ashton said and Luke got up and went upstairs.

 “Lukey, where are you going?” Ashton asked.

 “To the internet!” Luke shouted and Ashton got up and followed him.

 “What are you going to type in “why do I like kissing my friend who’s a boy?” he asked sitting on his bed as Luke held his laptop in his lap.

 “Yes,” Luke replied typing it in.

 “Ok, yahoo answers or Google?”

 “Google,” they said in unison.

 “It says, “If one male kisses another and they both enjoy the intimate feeling it makes both males...gay,” Luke read aloud and turned to Ashton who looked at him scared.

 “We’re gay?” Ashton asked.

 “Guess so, we both like each other and not girls so...yeah Ashton, we’re gay,” Luke said and Ashton’s eyes filled with tears and a sob escaped his mouth.

 “Ashy what’s wrong?” Luke asked.

 “My dad, he doesn’t like gay people. What am I going to tell him when he gets back from his business trip?” Ashton asked and Luke hugged him and rubbed his back soothing the older boy.

 “Look Ash, we’re in this together so I’ll be there with you when you tell him ok, I still need to tell my parents,” Luke said and Ashton stopped crying and looked into Luke’s blue eyes.

 “Ok Lukey, I trust you,” Ashton said and Luke closed the link and made sure to delete it from the history just in case.

 “It’s late, we should get some sleep,” Luke said glancing at the clock reading its 12pm.

 They both got under Ashton’s batman covers and Luke turned the small lamp off on the side table on his side making the whole room go dark, with just the glow in the dark stars glowing above them on Ashton’s wall.

 “Luke?” Ashton whispered and Luke turned to face Ashton.

 “What’s up Ash?”

 “I’m scared,” he whispered and Luke took his free hand and placed it on Ashton’s cheek.

 “Me too,” he said.

 “Can you kiss me Lukey?” Ashton asked.

 Luke nodded and brought his face to Ashton’s and pressed his lips to Ashton’s moving their lips in sync until he pulled back and looked into his beautiful hazel eyes.

“We’ll get through this Ashton, I promise,” Luke said and wrapped his arm around Ashton’s waist bringing him closer before drifting off to sleep.

Luke dreamt of what life would be like being with Ashton forever, and he smiled in his sleep at the thought.
