Ashton: age 8
Luke: age 7

It's been a year since Luke and Ashton met, and they've been inseparable ever since.

They've slept over each other's houses constantly, and their parents even bought them walkie talkies since their too young for cell phones. The funny thing is, they live next door to each other, but it makes things more fun.

Both boys have done every single fun thing together, gone through every obstacle of a new friendship, and now they have to go through a new one, the first grade.

"Lukey, I don't like this, what if the big kids pick on me?" Ashton asked Luke with fear in his hazel eyes.

"Don't worry Ashy, we're in the same class, I'll protect you, just think of me as your Prince Charming!" Luke exclaimed with a grin.

Ashton sighed then looked at Luke, "Ok"

They entered the school and walked to their classroom. They both had the same teacher, Miss Ferry. She greeted the boys and had them sit at a circle table with two other kids who go by the names Linus and Matt.
At recess, Ashton and Luke were playing on the monkey bars when their table mate Matt came over and pushed Ashton off causing him to fall and scrape his elbow.

"Hey! Why'd you do that for?" Luke asked angrily.

"He's on my spot beanpole! I'm just taking what's mine!" Matt yelled.

Luke got off the bars, and walked towards Matt, and being taller he kicked him in the shin causing Matt to fall. Luckily, no one saw.

"Ashy! Are you ok?" Luke asked.

"Yeah, Lukey it hurts," Ashton groaned in pain as Luke led him to the nurse's office.

"Don't worry Ash It'll get better, I promise," Luke said.

"You promised no one would hurt me!" Ashton yelled.

"Ash I'm sorry, please don't be mad at me, you're my only friend," Luke said tears forming in his sad blue eyes.

"Lukey I'm sorry, I'm not mad anymore," Ashton said and Luke smiled and hugged him.

"Don't worry Ash, I'll alway be there for you," Luke said then pulled away from Ashton who pecked his lips causing them both to blush.

"What was that?" Luke asked.

"Well, when my daddy says nice things to my mummy he does that, so I did it to you, did you not like it?" Ashton asked innocently.

"I did like it, um..lets get to the nurse now Ashy," Luke said still in a daze of the new thing he just experienced with his best friend.

Luke wasn't aware that he just kissed his best friend being so young, but what he did know, was that he kind of wanted to do it again.
