I sat at my vanity, putting on the last touches of my makeup before I headed out to Justine's birthday party. I wasn't keen on a party but Shakyra was hype for it and since it was a month since Louis and I broke up, I figured I should get out and have a little fun. I had planned to just dance away my problems for a couple of hours, but I'd been approached by Michael B. to go as his date. I was hesitant at first, but he'd been persistent, plus he was easy on the eyes. I accepted but was none too excited. My mind was dead set on being angry with Louis, but my heart was still stuck on him. The heart wanted what it wanted but for the interim I was prepared to never talk to him again.

My phone rang and I paused placing my highlight to accept Shakyra's Facetime request. I propped the phone against the mirror so I could continue putting it on.

"Hey girl." I greeted her, "What's up?"

"You riding with me or with...him?"

I giggled slightly and stared deadpan at her, continuing to place my highlight above my blush. I pulled back, admiring my good work and then blew out a puff of air. I had to take down my twists again and that was always slightly nerve wrecking although I should've been used to the motions by now. I just hated a frizzy twistout. I loved mine juicy and defined. Either way, I'd just make it work if the results weren't what I needed them them to be. I'd survive just like I'd been doing for the longest.

"Him, more than likely. Why you starting your shit right now? I know you don't fuck with him like that but it's not like we're dating..."

Shakyra laughed, "I mean...I just asked, Kiki. I'm not against dude at all. He came correct, he's fine...he appears to be into you."

I smirked, "Appears to be?"

"It's too early to tell, sis. I'm not ready to break out my pom-poms yet." she said, "But still, I just wanted to check. Tell me I'm pretty so I can get ready to head out."

I rolled my eyes, wanting to call Shakyra on her bullshit but deciding I didn't feel like fighting. She tried her hardest to support my decisions, but it was obvious she still hoped Louis and me worked things out. I didn't understand the loyalty however because he cheated. It wasn't like he just did something a little stupid, but he'd dealt with my cousin and would've gotten away with it if I hadn't seen the evidence. It was also on my schedule to beat her down when I saw her. She'd been hankering for an ass whipping and she was going to get it.

Still, I looked at my best friend and had to admit she was cute in the all white romper. The top was lacy while the bottom wasn't. It was a cute outfit without doing the most, but the look was sexy. I smirked as I put my hoop earrings on.

"Trevante supposed to be there?" I said, laughing, "Don't think you're slick, bitch."

Shakyra blushed and shrugged her shoulders, "Hey I gotta give him a reason to stay pressed, sis. Same thing you're trying to do."

I laughed a little bit but didn't comment. I loved to look good. It also didn't hurt if my date was pressed. It also didn't hurt double if Louis was super pressed. In my mind, he deserved it. It was that simple.

"Lichelle coming out tonight?"

Shakyra had been searching for something so she wasn't in frame. But I heard a clear answer of uncertainty.
