I wish there was a
sunrise to remember.I woke up to a cold
and colorless morning.
There was only
Darkness and Light. The emerald elixir was
my first splash of color,
awakening the dull hues
of the eggshell-white walls
and porcelain cup.The faded heather gray
of my clothes warmed me
inside as the elixir did.I look outside and watch
the subtle sprinkling of the
icy silver droplets melting
away on my car.The pavement darkens into
a rich blackness simmering
the proof of the frigid night
before.The sky brightens and bends,
no longer steel gray but
a welcoming and shivering blue.Above shines the sun.
Not yellow or gold.
Just a pale light waking
up the more colors below.
