Something Different

Chapter 8: Cornered .

Maylin's POV:
Since that whole incident with Arnold. I haven't seen Babu for like a week, but when i ask the manager to give me another patient he always says he's not allowed to do so. But why?

What's the point of staying In an empty room without any patient. While there's tons of patients staying here that need help. But I'm just stuck here staying in Babu's room waiting for him to come back. Though he doesn't really have to, if only they could actually take care of him well. He would be fine.

So on Monday morning . I sat as usual next to Babu's bed, just scrolling through some channels I'm so bored without anyone to talk to. Then the door opens and Babu emerges inside with his arms open towards me. So i stood up and did the same. Then i finally approached him and we hugged for some minutes just enjoying the hug since we were separated for some time. Didn't know i was that fond of him, but a voice from someone I didn't notice made us break the hug.

When I looked at the owner of the voice . My blood just boiled looking at him. He's wearing his usual suit, doesn't he have any other cloth than suits. But who cares.

He looked intently at me. With a scowl as usual , maybe he remembers i slapped him. Well serves him right. You could obviously smell tension in the air no one was speaking but Arnold and I spelled hatred towards each other.

Then Babu spoke up and said, looking at Arnold.

"If she doesn't agree I'll stay here."
Agree to what? Arnold just rolled his eyes at his grandfather and said,

"You can't force her grandpa , Maybe she has better things to do." He said while looking at me. His whole stare spelled hatred.

"Well Arnold I will be the judge of that." Then Babu turned towards me and said,

"Im sorry for not coming the whole week linny, this grandson of mine kept on not permitting me to go. And the maids actually listened to him. While I'm the head of the family. Anywhos Arnold wants to discharge me from the hospital." I looked at him and he had a triumphant smile, jerk. Then I  looked back at Babu and said,

"Why?"

"He says im better which is true. But I still need care. Remember I'm still old, and my whole family is too busy for me -"

"No we're not grand-"

"Shut up Arnold." And he actually did. I wanted to laugh, I bit my lip so I would  prevent it. But I think Arnold noticed it since when he looked at me his scowl deepened.

"As I was saying, I can't live without you. Please come and be my personal nurse at home. Ive already told your manager and he has agreed. I'll pay you thrice what you usually get. Please linny" im just shocked. He is actually saying this, it's a good offer but I need to help everyone. Not only one person.

"Babu..." And i looked down. How can I break his heart without breaking his heart.

As I was thinking of what to say Arnold cut in.

"Or maybe she wants even more money , am I wrong Maylin?" The way he says my name brings goosebumps on my skin. But the way he thinks of me . Makes me remember why I highly dislike him. I gave him a glare and said,

"I don't want more money. The money im usually paid is enough for me and my daily needs. " I said with a calm voice. To show him im completely not bothered by his statement. Then Babu said,

"Stop it Arnold. Just shut up, Maylin is a wonderful woman who only thinks of others. I understand if she doesn't want money from me. " And he scoffed. Asshole.

"But Maylin please consider, you just take care of me just like how you used to do in the hospital. Its simple and you leave for your other job. The only thing that changes is the location. Oh please say yes linny. I might die of not seeing you ." He's exaggerating but I Know how he's feeling. I looked down a bit, checked the pros and cons then breathed out and made my decision.
