The diner was deathly quiet as I moved around, save for the poor janitor that was cleaning up the mess of blood, with the swishing of the mop and the ripping of paper towels to clean Fredbear. My head felt like a jumbled mess, with questions toward self and the mystery rushing through to try to gain dominance as the main thought. Where was Afton? Why were there no other security guards at the party earlier? What was anything at that moment?
The keys jingled in my quivering hand, reminding me that I had the ability to dig deeper if I wanted to. All I had to do was wait for the janitor to leave, and I had the whole place to myself until I wanted to go home. When I looked at the clock on the wall, it read 1:37 PM. He was almost done, so I started toward the dressing room again to start looking in there. When I opened the door, a chilling cold rushed through and grabbed at my senses, dulling them for a moment. I quickly closed the door again.
"Why in the hell is it so cold in there?" I asked aloud in frustration, "It's in the prime of spring!"
The janitor had overheard me, so he came over for a second to check for himself. He opened the door, walked in, and then looked back at me with a concerned look on his face.
"You alright, son?" He asked empathetically, "You might just be imaginin' things, since it's not cold at all in there."
"Huh?" I balked before walking in to find that he was right. It wasn't truly cold in there.
"You might be right." I said with a frown, "However, I do want to stay and learn more about this place."
He shook his head and started to grab his belongings on one of the party tables.
"I'm headin' home." He called, "I don't agree with what you're doin', but I ain't stoppin' you. Second you feel uneasy again, go home."
"I'll try!" I called back as he started walking out the front door, leaving me and the animatronics alone.
My attention turned to the oddly-colored Fredbear head on the floor. Instead of golden yellow, it was crudely-painted brown, with spots of the golden color peeking out. I picked it up to feel that the paint hadn't even fully dried yet, which meant that William Afton wasn't quite so long gone as I had theorized. I had a small answer, but it only gave me more questions, if anything. I gently placed the brown Fredbear head onto the nearby table and then went to open both of the dressing booths, which both appeared empty.
Strange. I thought, I have absolutely no lead on where he's gone.
One thing did come to mind, though. There were four of Fredbear's spare heads in the room, (including the painted one) but there were only three of Bonnie's. It wasn't a huge find, but it could mean that Afton had left with one of Bonnie's heads in order to paint on it. Other than that, though, there was nothing I could find that was abnormal about the dressing room. Everything was where it should be, and I was left with disappointment.
"If he's up to something," I mused quietly, "he's certainly good at covering the most important tracks."
Up came a thought, then. Afton's office! I started moving toward the office rooms and unlocked the one with "William Afton" printed on it. I opened the door to find that the room was a mess, with papers scattered everywhere. The light-blue cabinets were all open, but seemed to have most of the papers inside of them, including legal documents as well as small papers which I assumed to be excerpts from news articles. I walked onto the carpeted floor, my shoe stepping on a piece of paper, causing it to crinkle. I could hardly believe just how messy it was in the office. For a company owner's office, it was abysmal.
I saw one paper on the desk that seemed interesting enough. It was a newspaper article.
"WILLIAM AFTON AND HENRY EMILY TO OPEN NEW FREDBEAR'S FAMILY DINER" it read,
