Louis rolled over, opening his eyes blearily when he bumped into a warm lump of covers next to him. He smiled at the sight of a half-awake Harry curled up under the sheets next to him, and Harry hummed softly when he saw that Louis was awake too.

Louis was sure there was something he had wanted to ask Harry, something important (maybe. You never know with thoughts born from exhaustion.) He cleared his throat anyway, hoping it would come back to him.

"Harry?"

"Yeah?" Harry's voice was raspy with sleep, and Louis laid helplessly next to him, closing his eyes as butterflies attempted acrobatics in his stomach. He'd officially forgotten his original question. Damn it. Damn it all to hell. Why was it that he turned to putty whenever he was with Harry, that he couldn't function worth anything if he was near those pretty green eyes?

"What would you do if I kissed you?" The question slipped from Louis' lips unbidden, and he tried to cover it with a cough just a bit too late.

Harry studied him for a few moments, squinting to keep the light filtering through the window out of his eyes as a smile ghosted over his lips. "I'd kiss you back."

Louis was sure his heart stopped at the words, and before he could even gather his thoughts together enough to form a sentence, Harry had rolled back over, pulling the blanket up to his chin and closing his eyes again. Louis smiled faintly, yawning before doing the same and cuddling up next to Harry.

Harry hummed softly in contentment, pressing the side of his face to Louis'. Gently, Louis brushed his lips over Harry's forehead in a delicate kiss, one he wasn't even sure Harry could feel. In fact, he was quite sure he hadn't, as Harry's breathing had already evened out, and he looked fast asleep. Laughing softly, Louis settled down again, letting himself slip back into sleep.

When he woke again, Harry was still next to him, scrolling on his phone, though he quickly shut it off in favor of giving Louis a bright smile when he saw that he was awake.

"Good morning!" he said cheerily, "Or, wait, I think it's still morning? We woke up pretty late." He turned his phone back on to check the time. "Eleven, just about. So, technically morning."

Louis shook his head amusedly, propping himself up with one arm as he blinked the sleep from his eyes.

"Mum and Gems are out for lunch, so we're free to do whatever," Harry continued, oblivious to the fond gaze Louis was directing his way. "I was thinking we could go out to lunch? There's this really good sandwich place a few blocks down I wanted to show you." He looked over at Louis expectantly, and Louis, realizing that was his cue to speak, startled, blinking again to focus his eyes.

"Sounds great," he said with a smile. Harry nodded, pleased, and sat back against the headboard.

"We can go whenever, there's no rush, but it does look a bit like rain, so if you don't want to walk home while it's pouring..." Harry trailed off, but Louis got the message.

Louis grinned, hauling himself upright. "Let me get dressed, then we can get going."

Cheerily, Harry jumped out of bed, rifling through his dresser, and Louis reluctantly left the warmth of Harry's bed to find something to wear. As he sorted through his suitcase, his mind wandered back to the question he had asked Harry earlier that morning. Or, he thought he'd asked him. He wasn't quite sure, as the memory was foggy with sleep. Who knew if Harry even remembered the exchange. Louis shook his head, dispelling his thoughts and focusing his attention on picking an outfit instead of Harry. There would be time for all that later.

Half an hour later, Louis and Harry were settled in a booth in a homey diner, enjoying their sandwiches. Louis hummed appreciatively as he took a bite, and Harry smiled, pleased.
