The world can be one hell of a cruel place. No...no it's the people that make it so cruel. The people with all the power they could ever want. They find joy in taking the lives, freedom...the innocence of others.
The citizens of Piltover is the perfect example of these assholes. Yes, the "City of Progress" itself. They think they're so much better than that of the Lanes. In their eyes, we're the savages, the dirty hoodrats with no sort of class or morals who you should pity from a distance. They give us their scraps and leftovers, raid our shops and homes, and block us off from equal opportunities.
I've been watching it for years. I watched my kind speak out against it...and...I watched them tumble to their deaths for doing so...including my parents.
My parents...
A child...should NEVER have to watch both of her parents die. She should never have to watch her friends be crushed to death! She should never even know what death looks like! She shouldn't have to be used to the sound of gunshots! She shouldn't know how to put an adult in a headlock by the time she's 12! She shouldn't...be robbed of a childhood....
Believe it or not, I'm not the only one this story could be about......but it's still my story I'm telling so listen up bitches.
"SCARLETT! SCARLETT RUN AWAY NOW!"
My mother shouted to me, swinging her chain knife and slinging it at the enforcer who had invaded the bar. I was in awe of her and my father. They were strong and passionate about their cause. I wanted to be just like them.
(Btw a chain knife is a blade attached to a long chain for those who don't know—👩🏽💻)
"I'LL GET DADDY!" I shouted as I ran outside. There was fire and smoke all around me. Screams and gunshots filled my ears. I didn't bother stopping, I couldn't. My mom needed help. I had my very first mission. This is what my parents prepared me for.
"ITS HIS DAUGHTER!"
My eyes grew wide as a man tumbled in front of me. I fell back in surprise. An enforcer grabbed the man and pulled him out of the way while two other enforcers inched towards me slowly.
"Don't worry sweetheart. We aren't gonna hurt you." One of them said. "We just wanna stop all of this. Isn't that what you'd like too? Come with us so we can all have a nice talk with your dad."
I made tears well up in my eyes and stood up as if I was a bit weak. The man smiled and walked towards me with less caution, bending down to my level. I immediately kicked him in between his legs.
"Nice try!" I shouted before running away as fast as I could. I could hear fast paced footsteps behind me. I purposefully ran through fighting men and women, taking advantage of my small size to try and lose the enforcers. My efforts only slowed them down a bit but didn't get them off my trail.
My heart began to pound as I felt the pressure kick in. I had to find my dad but I couldn't lure them towards him. My mind raced for a solution. A significant jingling rang in my ears. I felt in my pockets and pulled out the source of the noise. A cold, rusted whistle laid in my hands. My eyes lit up as I remembered what my father had came up with in case I had gotten into trouble.
I blew into the whistle as hard as I could. People around me stopped and paid attention as I ran past them. They finished off their own fights with a few enforcers and immediately charged at the enforcers who were chasing me.
They wrestled the enforcers to the ground. One woman picked me up and ran to a nearby, narrow alleyway.
"PUT ME DOWN! I HAVE TO FIND MY DAD!" I fought the woman who held me.
